Yeah, I won't buy it until it has a bit of flash memory on it. And I don't need much, just 32MB would be enough, I would just boot linux using using a read only SD card. It's a major flaw, I don't understand why they did

I would prefer to have 1GB of quality flash memory and a slow CPU rather than use SD cards. Why can't they even add 64MB of flash memory to store a bit of user data? That can't be expensive, or maybe I don't know how electron

I was called inexperienced because I was saying pointers are not 100% necessary in C++ anymore. I'm not even certain if using stl containers always use the heap. I'm a bit confused at times, since I avoid using oop and inheritance

Why not just use UDP instead? I feel TCP is just designed to send files and data segments, but it doesn't work well for other things.

Well as you long as developers are being paid big money to rewrite things... The software industry doesn't make a lot of sense.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm not depressed because of all those economic choices that makes no sense to me. I have known about climate change for 20 years now, since I was a teenager, which is why I never really wanted to have a car or ge

It depends if mozilla will support OPFS.

Aren't there a lot of sorts of things that are just impossible or difficult to do in rust, like GUI, or need to be entirely rewritten in rust? Rust can be interfaced with C, but I don't see if you can really benefit from rust safe

I used graphviz to process the output of clang format, to visualize function calls between functions. The output was quite messy. I don't really know for to give clues to it, I tried several options.

I guess GDPR and similar laws will inevitably cause profit losses for ad companies. It was a good ride until governments caught on.

For ethical reasons regarding climate change, I don't travel very much. Anything bought and paid online should not be trusted. Hotels are a luxury, in my view, so unless you pay a real price, expect to have problems.

Write a "Zig in Y minutes", to me a language doesn't exist if it's not there. Add vector math types/functions/operators, those should be standard, in my view.

Whatsapp feels like a glorified sms. I have unlimited sms already. I don't really see the point of Whatsapp beyond sms not being free. It's centralized, not entirely trusted or more trusted than sms. So yes of course it's a t

I wonder how email could be fixed if there was no Spam AI filters. I guess there would be domain whitelists, or rather an user specific domain whitelist. Every mail would be spam or grey list by default until the user explicitly decides he

If there was enough money, it would be possible to have a v8 equivalent to python.

I'm curious about the performance improvements, I guess one day it will match pypy or numba?

I tried it something like 1 or 2 years ago, it crashed. I don't if there are CPU or GPU requirements.

this gives enough time for the eggs to hibernate and hatch. for the eggs to die, there must be a lukewarm summer, and a long winter. beyond that, it's also about averages.

by jokoon 4y ago
I think eggs can survive below zero temperature, but not longer than 6 months. In regions that are too cold, mosquitoes will just not thrive. Increase the average temperature of one degrees and a lot of regions will welcome mosquitoes.

it would require a lot of piping and other tools to compress that hydrogen. a nuclear plant scales better. although the system you talk about might already exist and I'm curious to see a prototype.

by jokoon 4y ago
Maybe it would be if nuclear plants would be dedicated to electrolysis. But since electrolysis is inefficient, it would require a lot of nuclear energy.
