Yeah it doesn't even make sense from the "competing with Tesla" standpoint. I don't understand what Apple is hoping to gain from this.

Yeah. Even if you are a staff software engineer there is usually someway for the company to track what you actually are putting your time towards. Then I hear from tons of salaried workers who don't have to track time at all.

Is that behavior not eventually used to influence ranking? If users continue to click AMP results more often than non-AMP I'm pretty sure the google algorithm will start favoring AMP.

I'm a consultant and, like most, bill by the hour. So it makes sense to track hours in that aspect but I don't know anyone who always hits or exceeds 100% of their target utilization. Which means if you don't have billable wo

For me salary means a minimum of 40 hours. I even have to record my time still and the tool will take no less than 40. Even if I worked 60 the week before. I do sometimes have those days where I struggle to find things to do but those becom

I think "nobody can find good engineers" is a fallacy. Either the filtering is failing or they simply aren't paying enough to attract "good engineers". If they are paying an average wage they should expect average e

I'm not an engineer but I'm am a tech consultant. First, there are options outside of engineering that you may like. Second, being rejected by 20 companies doesn't seem excessive to me. It really is a numbers game. I have 10

I have some contractor friends and they say that they feel so much more respect. When there is overtime involved the client usually pushed it to their salaried staff because there is no cost to them. I went on vacation for a week and couldn

I don't want autopay from my bank account. Automatically paying with a CC is ideal and then just making one payment to CC. Then you can dispute if you are billed the incorrect amount. I don't think my power bill, for example, will

Hell, a lot of the shit I do at work is BS to make it look like I am busy or that I care. We could go to a 4 day work week and probably not lose productivity. A lot of the time in my 60 hour weeks is just sitting on meetings I don't ev

They only accounted for 40 hours for work. What professional today is only spending 40 hours working and/or increasing their skills related to work? Especially if you are on HN. 2 hours for dependents? I take it that doesn't mean

The US doesn't buy wagons or hatchbacks unless you call it a CUV. Then they go nuts for them. The Bolt is just plane ugly though. So is the i3. The Model 3 has some sex appeal to it.

These two vehicles would not be compared if they were ICE vehicles. Just not the same class. Model 3 is aiming towards the luxury market and the Bolt is the mid level economy car that looks hilarious. The BMW i3 is more of a Bolt competitor

The camera bulge bothers me on every phone. The lens always ends up wearing after some daily use. Why would you want that to be the contact point on any device?

The US is about $52K for a household. $40k would probably be enough for a lot of people. That's at 4% return on $1m. Where are people getting that consistently and without too much risk of losing a bunch of that money? Then how to you

At $1m I might think twice. It may not be enough for me to live on for another 50 years. At $10m I could probably try all kinds of new ideas and still have enough money to live if they all failed.
