He's managed to keep a high profile for a loooong time. I remember reading an article about him in 1983, about a game he made for the Commodore 64. The article spent more time talking about Lanier than talking about the game. This seem

My number one complaint about University Courses. We didn't spend a single minute doing what most of my job consists of: reading someone elses code and trying to decipher what the heck they were trying to do.

I've definitely thought about this. I live in San Diego, where the cost of living is very very high. If I relocated to somewhere cheaper, I could probably work for 40% less than what I need to make in SD. But it's unnerving to be

This is right on the money. I think the 'trick' to getting a satisfying remote position is to use WFH as a bargaining chip. For instance, I was living in Seattle and I wanted to live in Portland, where it's more affordable. W

I've been working from home for twelve years now. I didn't set out to WFH, I stumbled into it. Here's what worked for me, it might work for you: I was contacted by a recruiter. They wanted to hire me, but the job was 5000km a

How so? These are unregulated securities aren't they? It would be no different than me selling you Monopoly money. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see what law was broken. Not defending this, just saying this is

Is this TMobile USA? I worked in engineering when they were still Voicestream Wireless. We were acquired by Deutsche Telekom and rebranded as TMobile. We had virtually no interaction with the European "T-Mobile."

IIRC, that was an acquisition. I interviewed there, they were a block away from Real Network in Seattle, and mostly consisted of alumni from there. In 2004, Real Network was A Big Deal.

Google built a better mousetrap. This is a nice article, but the truth is that Yahoo is to Google as Myspace is to Facebook.

I've worked for a couple of companies that have IPO'd. One thing I've noticed is that the people who are investing in the companies want the companies to be a specific size. For instance, let's say you have a company tha

GM is very VERY focused on the bottom line. The Chevy Bolt doesn't have a big margin. It's likely that they'd rather sell Escalades and pickup trucks. Because they have a fat margin.
