What you are talking about is something along the line of OZ/Mozart or Alice ML. These type of languages are not usually used to program actual applications in. They are used to teach programming language concepts and how they relate a

If it is cheap on the resources (less cpu and ram) it is probably more expensive on manpower. If it is cheaper on manpower it is probably less resource efficient. You can take a look at the Web Framework Benchmarks [1] the fastest framework

Do you already know HTML and CSS? If not, you might want to get that squared away. HTML shouldn’t be that hard and don’t go to far into CSS since you probably won’t do much CSS work later on. You might be able to pick a book that teaches yo

I had to drop out before I got my Bachelor’s degree and I’m missing some of my general requirements rather than CS requirements and I’ve been doing fine as a programmer. So I would say you also have to look when people dropped out and why.

I don’t think you understand my stance an intelligence or IQ tests the way I intended it. I am just saying that having a high IQ (single measure of intelligence) doesn’t guaranty you that the person is skilled right for your job (multiple t

I honestly believe that HR in IT is so broken that just about nothing they do makes sense. Most interviews are BS, most coding interviews/tests are BS, an IQ test is BS too. I don’t think the IQ test is inherently worse or better that

Well, I’ve heard of the Russian invasion of the Ukraine yesterday from HN, same with Kyiv. I’ve got HN open at work and refresh it when I need to think so HN might be more relative for world news than you think. There also once was an artic

Daniel is also a smart kid who can make his way through university without getting a leg up anywhere along the way and come out to be successful afterwards. Just calling affirmative action racist isn’t helping. Things are a bit more nuanced

I think you have to consider that many of us where born in a time where “not seeing color” was touted as “the solution” to racism. And while there are points for “correcting” based on skin color the ting is presented and perused rather badl

Yes, he definitely did that. What sucks for people like his student is that they counted as a minority and got shafted by that until they didn’t count as a minority anymore and got shafted by that too. It sucks to be an invisible minority.

That is interesting. I would like to hear more about jails and how they compare to containers on linux. This is the first time I’ve heard about nomad and I would like to here more. That the whole thing integrates with ZFS is news to me too.

I know a company that still has its product in ColdFusion. Just because you are not “hot” anymore means that all your code goes away. The problem that PHP has are not that it is dead or going away (not going to happen). The problem it has i

I agree with Clubber, stick with CS and a minor in business. MIS sounds nice if you want to go IT. The minor in business can take you in some of the management positions in IT, experience can take you into others. But the minor in business

System automation is very “scripty” so the traditional tools have always been in scripting languages (chef, ansible, puppet, salt) and you can have lots of other peoples “code” running instead of doing it all yourself. That is sort of the a

It is not just that. NestJS feels “cobbled together” out of what was already being used. Rails feels like one coherent thing and the plugins don’t break that much (well most of them). But the difference is that everything feels coherent in
