You sound like you know quite a bit about org-mode. I recently started using emacs again and want to also give org-mode another shot. IIRC last time I gave up on using org-mode for todos/notes because the experience on Windows wasn&#x

I'm glad this is finally more easily available. I've been waiting for a decent windows terminal, and I hope this will be it.

Not the op, but unless you're constantly recycling vms or changing reserved ips, how is that not true? I think it'd only be a problem depending on your threat model. If your traffic only comes from one ip, then it makes it easier

Thanks for mentioning Monica. It looks a lot more polished than the last time I took a look at it. I've been toying with the idea of making my own crm, but always put it off hoping someone else will do it better. Other than syncing co

I'm not super familiar with ipfs, but I _think_ ipns is supposed to solve that problem. > Inter-Planetary Name System (IPNS) is a system for creating and updating mutable links to IPFS content. Since objects in IPFS are content-addr

Maybe I missed it, but I think it would be great to also explain what happens on the other end of this process. What does someone do when they receive a patch?

I don't use Mumble for voice chat, but I do really appreciate mumblelink api being implemented in GW2 for things like gw2taco, so thanks!

I agree that compression is overrated for most backups. It'd help with a lot of text-oriented data, but honestly that takes up so little space compared to a vm image or something like that. If I was backing up a single computer, compr

That's interesting, did you have a lot of small files or large files? I don't know if it's an option for you, but have you considered something like rsync from each server to a central backup server and then running restic&#x

IIRC Restic keeps indexes of data it uploads to configured backends. I think it caches that index locally, but it can also download it from the remote backend to compare.

I've used both Borg and Restic pretty heavily. I settled on Restic because it was much lighter on resources. A few of the servers I manage have small amounts of ram, but large amounts of data. Borg would often get oom-killed, but Re

A lot of people could easily get away with only ever using the free tier. Like other commenters said, you can also start a new meeting after that 40 minutes is up. It's great for 1:1 video chats as well. Screen sharing also beats slac

I don't use pihole, but I do have a similar setup blocking ad domains at my router. Very few websites actually end up breaking. The rare ones that do I just whitelist in the script that builds the list of hosts to block. I think more

I think some developers either only have one window open at a time, or always use fullscreen/maximized windows. There are so many things that are just difficult to use when windows are tiled to fit ~4 things on one monitor.

I'd rather use an internal pki for internal-only stuff at work, but for my own homelab I do use a wildcard cert that is something like * .homelab.mydomain.com. Sure, someone can see you have internal servers under * .homelab.mydomain.c
