Yes I did this too. Facebook logon is much more convenient when your real identity is not linked to it.

I read dozens of sites on mobile Safari that have wrapped text. There must be a solution. Example http://m.sfgate.com/sfchron/index.htm

Congrats on a nice gain. You could buy a Model S with your profits. I bought a Chevy Volt last year. Have really enjoyed driving it so far. Electric cars have really taken off in the past year in Silicon Valley. I see multiple Tesla's, Leaf

This is a good approach. I work with ERP systems for large companies, and it's typical to separate the transactional database (OLTP) from the analytics database (OLAP). There's usually a replication process to copy transactions into the rep

I think you are wrong. Smart people have high earnings regardless of Ivy League or state school. http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/the-college-solution/2...

This will set a good precedent for other developed countries. Let's hope Australia goes next, and maybe Scandinavia.

I like this attitude: Everything I have ever achieved in life has started with a panel rejecting me, YC was just another notch. Think I will subscribe to her blog.

The government should auction the H1B visas to the highest bidder. This would encourage high value immigration. They could set a price floor of $100k to discourage low wage employers. They should also set a minimum salary for H1B holders of

Universal income should be popular as every voter would benefit. Alaska has a provident fund with payments to every resident. It might happen in Europe next as a backlash to the austerity programs in place now.

Yes, I agree. Get rid of the conditions and pay people directly through bank transfers. The public should push for a basic income in developed countries also. A universal basic income would provide a safety net for entrepreneurs and make it

There is a shortage of technical specialists in computer programming. It seems that companies are reluctant to train local workers. Startups like to show growth by listing jobs, but they only want "rock stars" so the positions sit unfilled.

I agree. Smartphones have made public transit much more enjoyable. You can read HN or play games while waiting at the bus stop for example. I don't think Wifi is a big deciding factor as mobile data plans are standard with most smartphones

There's a nice dose of realism in this article. If you want to attract investors, you had better demonstrate some traction.

I lived in the Marina in 1999 and don't remember the Grove either. Spent many weekend mornings eating breakfast at other trendy cafes on Chestnut Street. The article mentions an annual rent of $246k. Assuming the place is open 360 days per

Mobile email has changed the etiquette of communication already. Even without the "Sent from my phone", people are using short replies from their cell phones and tablets. It's better for both the sender and receiver on a mobile device. Stev

My problem with startups is the cognitive overhead in linking their company name to their function. I cannot remember what trello does for example? Naming of services should be more obvious.

Nice idea. I am sure there are startups doing that already, but don't know one offhand. TV news is a waste of time. It is addictive though.

For any crime, there's a risk-reward balance. On the risk side, many rampage killers are suicidal and don't seem to fear the consequences of law enforcement. We need to focus on taking away the reward for these crimes i.e. public attention.
