Not trying to be snarky, but isn't that pretty aligned with Libertarian views? You might not need to start your own party.

Loss of selling privileges can be a big problem too, and incredibly hard to fight. The store I work for once lost selling privileges for spurious copyright claims regarding books we had bought directly from large established publishers. Eve

I don't need pixel editors a lot, but I've definitely used Piskel a few times in the past for making some simple icons. It's not perfect, but works well enough for me.

All the small businesses I've worked at have another huge factor to consider, when it comes to new tech: Will the tech be supported long enough for it to be worth dealing with? Anecdotal example: A few years ago, my workplace at the ti

That original post on cytora seems quite a bit better to me than the github link since it gives more context. Thanks!

Old-timers please correct me if I'm wrong, but modern-style full-coverage tests of code weren't trivial to write or add to fortran projects on dec10's...

I'm not so sure I'd say that's an App Store problem. There are ways around requiring purchases sight-unseen. Unless I'm mistaken, you can have a 'lite' version as a separate app, or you can have in-app purchase

Does anyone know why "xxxxxx;"? Seems like that would make an invalid call, so wouldn't it make more sense to replace it with some sort of no-op? Or is xxxxxx sql's way of doing a no-op?

I'd add another advantage: The physicality of it all. That was what drew me to it. It's kind of related to your advantage #4 and advantage #2, but it's more than that. The physical nature makes it easier (for me at least) to

Unless Apple made an iPad SSH client I don't know about, this sounds like you were just using a bad app. The first two that popped up when I just googled for "ipad ssh client" clearly have control keys, as seen in their scree

I think you're missing my point. I wasn't arguing against more feature-filled package managers. I was answering cjhveal's genuine curiosity about why you'd really want native package loading in vim.

Reading that made me not want to read the rest of the article. I'm glad that they realized it was wrong and admitted that, but still, how much stock can we really put in their judgement if that's a realization they had to make?

Personally, none of the bullet points you mentioned matter to me at all, so I'm glad about the improved native package loading. Plus, I've always found it weird to need a package in order to load other packages (in a remotely sane

If you've been running bare vim, then using either will be fine. Unless you're planning on turning your bare vim into a rather heavy IDE, you're not going to really experience much difference between vim 8 and neovim. Edit to

Fair to guess, but I doubt that's it. The store I work for has been selling on there for almost a decade (it was selling since before I was hired), steadily, with very high customer feedback.

For what it's worth, both Amazon and Google can be the same way. (I've had to deal with such from both of them before.) That said, it's not always that way with them, and I suspect Apple is similar. We always hear about the r
