Adding to this, if a seller on Amazon sends you a different ISBN than the one you ordered, you can return it, because that's not what you ordered.

This argument is akin to saying "now that anyone can publish a blog or tweet, what's the point of news places like NYT or WSJ?" I don't believe either negates the needs or benefits of the other. In addition to what other

Though shouldn't the issue with used books being sold as new and ARCs being sold as new get sorted out just by customers complaining to Amazon about sellers? And if that doesn't fix it, isn't Amazon's handling of that th

I'm not saying this accounts for the entirety of the crappy print-on-demand issue you're seeing, but it might account for some: a lot of big publishers make their backstock be POD if it's old enough. For instance, at the book

I don't know about that. I think the visual programming aspect is the most defining trait, in which case...? I don't know any general purpose non-toy visual programming languages/interfaces. Scratch exists but likening PD to

Csound is more analogous to GCC than it is to Vim, though. I'd say something akin to Vim would be a tracker: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_tracker

Either you're trying to start an argument that I want no part of, or you're asking the wrong person. I don't have much experience with any linux desktops (I've just done server stuff mostly), so I have no idea. Hence why

A hammer is also a tool of non-fascist regimes, though. Is restriction of free speech also a tool of non-fascist regimes?

I believe this[1] and this[2] are what was being referred to... There were actual measures in place to suppress Nazism by suppressing free speech. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_in_Germany#West_Ger... [2]

Restriction of free speech is a tool of fascist regimes. You don't fight fascism by becoming a fascist yourself.

Similar situation with Narco News[1] (though I know nothing of its journalistic standards)... I had a friend who was working for them in Mexico about 15 years ago, and he ended up quitting and leaving the country after a co-worker was kille

I don't see how that can be right... The store I work for sells on Amazon and we've listed things that Amazon doesn't sell (and never has sold). Each time we did that and the product sold well for a month or two straight, Ama

I get that you were talking about FBA... I was just ranting a bit about middleman sellers in general I guess. You didn't need to do a point by point explanation of why it doesn't apply to FBA, especially after you surmised I wasn&

That happened to me once at a bookstore I worked at. We realized that a coursebook we sold decently in-store was getting ordered on Amazon a bunch too, to the point we'd sell out. So next semester we sent a bunch to FBA, sold them all.

Middleman sellers might not technically be a scam, but it's not often beneficial to all parties. I've spent some time working for a bookstore that has decent quantity of sales on Amazon, so that's where my perspective comes f

Are createspace books still of a noticeably lesser quality printing than non-print-on-demand books? I saw a few a while (a few years?) ago, and the quality offended me, so I wrote off createspace. I'd be interested to learn that's
