I don't really care whether celebrities feel persecuted or not. (I believe there's too much cult of celebrity already, so I do not feel any more sympathy for them than I do for everyone else.) The danger I was referring to is the

It's more than that though. Liberalism is a religion, sure, but there's a right wing equivalent too that's just as fervent. (No, it's not Nazism, though that isn't to say that's not a threat too.) I think it&#x

Your comment actually is a perfect example of why this anonymity is needed. I read the article, I thought it was an interesting idea. On the other hand, you (presumably) read the article, came to the conclusion that Nazis must be behind it,

Now if we can just get around to fixing why we need such anonymity in an academic journal in the first place... It's absurd that there's such danger in saying something that doesn't entirely align with either the left or the

The "we" that is implied holds no power over what someone names something, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

That's a really great overview of the situation. I much preferred this to the Vice article that's also on the HN frontpage.

I wonder if it'd be possible to augment or replace the existing living spaces (and other spaces) on a rig. Maybe turn a rig into a hotel-on-the-water kind of thing.

I'm not entirely sure that's motion blur. The images shown in the article make it look like it's just lens distortion. It's probably a fairly wide angle lens, and that's why things look stretched out the further fro

I don't think that accounts for lazy or ignorant programmers trying to limit joke/abusive accounts, though. And that's what the problem has always been.

His "R.U.R." really blew me away, considering when it was written and how much I could see its influence in a lot of more current scifi. I haven't read "War With the Newts" yet, but it's now next on my list.

Can you A/B test a site like that? I don't really know how AMP works (so I may be way off base), but from a user standpoint, since you don't seem to actually go to the page, just to Google's AMP version, I'd imagine
