Yep, this is the way I work. Always rebase against master, and fix conflicts there, so branches merging into master should always be up-to-date and have zero conflicts.

Think about what valid, useful reasons people have to return to the app. E.g in a game, they might want to see the progress in their crops. In a book collecting app, it might be to find out what new books appeal to them, or to enter their r

I've always wondered why Google doesn't just slowly raise the prices on things like this until either everyone switches due to attrition and they can shut it down noiselessly, or it becomes profitable. There's been a few serv

Just to be another anecdotal data point, I am a white male iOS engineer with tons of experience on top-grossing apps. I live a few miles from Uber's new building in Oakland. But I would never consider working for them because of storie

I don't see any reason that Obj-C can't stick around for a long, long time, even if Swift is the "preferred" language. Also, rumors of first-class support for Swift as a .NET family language are very interesting and woul

Best way I've seen is to have peer code reviews. Have different people from across the team review each others checkins. Every. single. checkin. It can be a quick "buddy check", or a longer code review for a big meaty feature

I ask them to design a structure for a card games that uses a standard deck of playing cards, and how they would implement shuffle (not the algorithm itself) and dealing and hands. This is simple. People manage to grossly over engineer it.

Don't forget, they are very new to mobile. Things that may be obvious to mobile devs are overlooked by a large company used to a captive console audience. Nintendo doesn't move quickly but they are very adaptable in the long run.

I was lucky to learn C with pointers first, and then arrays. When you think about it as just chunks of memory, it all makes sense and is easier to reason about what the cpu will do. This is another example of a "simplifying abstraction

One of the best places to look is where an emerging platform overlaps with existing specialty fields. For example, VR is currently an emerging platform, here's a few things that maybe someone is pursuing but there's no established

This is why it's important to have a "hotfix" process where you can make a change fast and then still follow up with all the QA and coding standards.
