Forgive my ignorance, could someone let me know how older non HTML 5 browsers will treat <header> <article> etc? Will they just lay them out as divs? If not this seems like a pretty serious barrier to entry for HTML5.

In all honesty (said as a Canadian with a Computer Engineering degree -- I should note we take the term engineering a bit more serious here in Canada, we don't allow people with CS degrees for instance to call them selves engineers) I don't

As I understand it, canadian CANDU reactors use a robotic system to perform online refueling. They also use heavy water as a moderator, and burn unrefined uranium / [can] spent fuel from other reactors pretty impressive machines I think.

The reasoning here of course being that they had not yet discovered transistors (Though some work had been done in devices similar), and MOSFETs were still a long way out, so it was reasonable at this point to assume that computers of any v

The _reason_ everyone decided to kill Flash, is because it, combined with pdf reading, is responsible for the majority of browser crashes. The push here is to eliminate an unnecessary layer from the web stack. And I would point out that whi

I love being able rename tabs, I just wish that they would unify the move the cursor keys with the standard OS X keys. ie: beginning of line -> command + left arrow. I realize that people are probably used to it, but personally I like m

There was a star trek original series episode about this. Two planets who had evolved warfare to the point that it was completely carried out in simulations, and casualties were executed by each respective side. I believe kirk ended the sho

While I am no history scholar (most of my info comes from reading the Wiki and watching the history channel) I think the 1000 year thing is a bit of an overstatement. The western roman empire (The part that actually had rome in it) only las

An API that would allow for small snapshot images would be useful as well. Say for posting a formula blurb to a forum for instance, would be pretty handy as well. .joe

I never understand this generality, when the US stands as the only 'developed' nation without universal health care? In Canada we have universal health care, and it works reasonably well. Some would argue waiting lines and all that, I've ne

It might be just sybtactical sugar, but I would really like to see some sort of annotation for auto generating setters and getters at compile. Eclipse makes it pretty easy to make these, but it sure would clean up class clutter.

I thought the issue was due to the binary representation of numbers like 0.1, 0.01, 0.001 being in fact non terminating fractions ala: 1/3 thus the longer the system ran the more small amounts of round off error it accumulated but adding tw
