This was already posted, debated. It was part of a two week session of people posting about how being smart was a detriment to one's ability to be successful.... I suspect there are many smart / successful people who do not agree.

The thing I love most about Java versus working in Ruby / JS / anything else, is the IDE (read: eclipse). Right now we are building an app in SproutCore and I find my life spent mostly in TextMate, which is quite nice and their JSLint integ

I was using Erlang as an example as I am familiar with it. My point was more so that there are (as you say) many styles of concurrency, and that I hate it when functional programers use "Try programming concurrently in an imperative languag

I find the assertion that the ONLY way to program for multiple cores or concurrency is to use functional programming annoying. It seems to be the default fall back of functional evangelists, as if there were no other way in the world to sol

Yeah man you got me there, I am from Canada, I have no idea what is going on legally with regards to this situation. As I said, I understood it that BP is liable up to some amount (in dollars). How that amount is assessed and so forth, I ha

I suspect MS is trying to keep Bing as a separate entity. Perhaps to avoid feeling like the big monolith threatening to over compete. Alternatively it might be just trying to make Bing feel like a new brand... who knows. If you look at bing

All I can think is... if ifs and buts were candy and nuts.... It'd be great IF bp were going to be held fully liable. From my understanding there is a limited liability clause that is going to hold BP to some unimaginably low number. And of

I couldn't agree more with this guy, as former film maker, enthusiast, I've found the 3D movies to be a range of uncomfortable to distracting. Most importantly 3D is used to distract from the fact that the stories are 1D and disinteresting.

Which I always find amusing, because its intent couldn't be farther from a status symbol. I feel as though the actions of a few arrogant engineers have ruined what is a very good tradition.

I think the ring it self was supposed to wear down over time. There is also a thing about it being as far away from your 'gold' wedding band as possible, signifying that your primary goal in work should be the work... not the gold.
