Oh, I wasn't trying to imply that it will fail. Just relating my experience that social norms and robopsychology are bigger hurdles than the technology, imo.

Sounds like it's an evolution over Android's voice stuff, and better integrated. But the tech isn't what stops me from using Android's voice commands, generally. It's that I'm not often enough in a situation to use it without feeling embarr

My opinion on MG Siegler cemented after the last fight he had with Dan Lyons. I don't even really like Dan Lyons that much (though I was pretty amused by Fake Steve Jobs). But this post: http://realdanlyons.com/blog/2011/09/28/kindle-fire-

I'd throw in Horace Dediu of Asymco and Marco Arment and maybe David Pogue. I don't know who Dilger is.

Usually they'll grandfather in unlimited plans that are in place before they kill them, though. I still have an "unlimited" data plan from Verizon, which, as I understand, will unfortunately not transfer over to an [EDIT: unlimited] LTE pla

I couldn't detect a value judgment either way from your comment, but I agree, and I think that's a feature, not a bug. I've got plenty of utility apps on my Android phone that I interact with very rarely to change some setting on the phone

From a blog post I wrote: Zuckerberg refers to this as “frictionless sharing,” a dream of a kind of meta-panopticon with which everyone can see what everyone else is doing in real time. There are parts of this that I actually find kind of

Oh, I have no illusions about what's broken. That's why it's bittersweet. I'm sad that I can't view a web site, but I'm happy that IE6 compatibility is going away.

I'm using Chrome frame, but it doesn't work that well. Don't have virtual machine access.

I have to use IE6 at work, and I'm surprised at how much of the Web is simply broken for me. It's kind of bittersweet.

Could be faked, but apparently someone bought a Nexus S with Ice Cream Sandwich off of ebay. http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/28/ice-cream-sandwich-gets-a... I was skeptical about the prospect of "unifying" Honeycomb and Gingerbread, but i

I agree that it's silly from a technological point of view, but the libraries are at the mercy of publishers, and what else can the publishers do, really? If they let libraries "lend" out unlimited copies of books, who would buy them?

I agree with the GP that the long-press is annoying. But I I think it would be just as annoying the other way. Seems to me there's plenty of space for a button to go to the comments. Also, I understand there's not a lot of room on a phone s
