   It’s a US thing and most printers in the US default to it. You would be hard pressed to find someone who knows what A4 is. Letter size is 8-1/2 x 11 inches by US standards.

   You can also replace the socket on the NES itself for relatively little, it took me about 20 minutes a couple of years ago and it made it much more reliable.
