The tracking protection using DNT and the like is indeed a gimmick. It is an ineffectual and passive way to hinder tracking. Better ways are to be more active: to reject third-party cookies, disallow sites from storing anything, uninstall F

Is it really...? are they measuring the right things? You get what you measure. So what do they measure? Do they ask for User-Agent logs from various sites around the net? Or do they rely on third party cookies or how does it work...?

Disclaimer: I might or might not agree with EU but I think I see the mechanism of action. Now, the thought about "the EU attempting to regulate the internet" is rather myopic. EU is not initiating anything, the EU is simply contin

If this is a widespread issue, I wonder why do companies insist in building/keeping fabrication facilities in China? I would guess the cost structure of chip manufacturing is heavy towards things other than personnel costs... but is th

I don't like it neither. This is horrible. I tried Bob Marley's "Is This Love" and a bunch of others, and they are nausea invoking experiences. The constant back and forth stereo panning is just disturbing. It probably m

Thank you, I see what you mean. Firstly, I agree that Git has a learning curve. However, trying to learn anything based on man pages alone is not a good idea, in my opinion man pages are for reference and not a substitute for more extensive

But... I am puzzled. Honest question here. What is wrong with meritocracy? Isn't it a system where your talent, effort and achievement are meaningful, and attributes like race, gender, wealth, sexual orientation etc. are irrelevant to

Google Flights is generally fine. But sometimes it figures out quite fringe stuff like Stockholm-Dublin roundtrip with a 17 hour layover in Dubai. It was not cheap either. Sounded like something like a global minima.

Trilogy: it's actually six books, not three. What to call it? Hexalogy? After the original six came books by Herbert's son, but I've never read those so cannot comment.

Nope! I have missed it. The only one I've seen is the movie with "that Twin Peaks guy". Though it is a cult film and all that, I did not think it was very good to be honest. The movie was rather confusing and made more sense

Exactly. After reading the whole Dune trilogy, my first thought was: wow, what an experience. My second thought was: whoever makes a series of films of this, and stays faithful to the books, they will surely make billions of dollars.

There's also "repo" from Google. And many other tools. Git is not a panacea for bad design. If you have interdependent repositories (I read that the same as a cyclical dependency, A needs B needs A), then you should fix that

Once upon a time, I remember having to use Visual Sourcesafe, and it started silently corrupting the repository after 2 Gb. Probably some length somewhere was a 32-bit signed variable. I remember that the corruption was silent. That was bad

The way I see it the Git nomenclature makes much sense. You "push" to a repository, if it is yours, but you cannot just push to the repositories of others. You make a "pull request" for others to fetch changes from you.
