Funny how brains work. For me the order of association was: 1. IKEA Product? 2. Something to do with VAX computers … 3. I had to think tens of seconds about what your comment refers to but I find it perfectly valid that you had a different

The point (tho not the best analogue for it) is that very few have the need (and the means) to go for the extreme. But for some who need it, the reasonable option for most is not going to cut it. Hence I would guess 20 from the selection.

I guess this is similar to me going to a wine store. I am readily persuaded that a good 20 euro wine is actually much more enjoyable for me than a 5 euro wine. But I get no additional enjoyment from 500 euro wine over that 20 euro wine. So

Hell, github has had a lot of outages in the last weeks (webhooks for the most part), I would not be surprised if they'd lose github data .. which I guess would be detected by git eventually but hey, what's gone is gone.

Idk, we could illustrate this a bit with: "hey, we are in the business of murder, we switched from machine guns to sniper rifles, our murder is now much less wasteful (in terms of bullets used)". That is not to say you are wrong,

Correct me if I'm wrong but even the original plan only covered carbon footprint of Shell's operations? Which I presume are pretty much a minor fraction of the carbon footprint of their products and kinda makes the whole exercise

I get the system. It's just a bad system. The author is having musk-ish type of fun and that's their freedom. My freedom is to feel disgust by seeing mass murderers, even if they are treated equal to not controversial topics.

Looking at the release history it may be that the releases are named after some front page daily news headline or something. Even so, knowingly naming a release after a war criminal is very off-putting.
