Can you link to an example of one of these companies. We're getting ready to start hiring again and I'm kind of worried about this.

Yeah we had a pretty high level of fraud come in from them. They really ought to have better controls on it as its well known that carders test cards by making hotel and STR bookings.

Booking.com is pretty awful on the backend. For instance they would often have line items in a payment that weren’t attributed to any reservation. Which is a pain in the ass if your accounting system assumes all payments will always be as

If you understand SQL enough to know if the query ChatGPT produced is valid - you probably could have written it yourself. I don’t see how prompting chatgpt and testing its results is faster or better than just writing SQL.

The benefit of using GPT to produce something for another human is the other human can understand you even if the statement is slightly weird or incorrectly worded. SQL doesn’t have the same tolerance.

The SQL it produced for my coworkers ran without error - it just produced undesired results.

If you know SQL why is this better than just writing SQL? If you don’t know SQL how do you know it’s correct? I had to forbid my coworkers from using chatgpt to generate SQL because it kept doing things slightly wrong - like missing parens

I want whatever solution that my parents, wife and coworkers will actually use so I don’t have to help them. I try to explain that if they’d just commit to using a password manager, they just won’t have to think about it anymore, but it’s l

When a new ice cream place opens and gets overwhelmed because the McDonalds across the street can’t get its ice cream machine to work more than 2 hours a day, it would pretty funny to see a bunch of people dressed like Ronald McDonald whini

If you're going to use PoE (you should) you can get in line surge protectors. Although to be honest - I've used PoE cameras for years, both in the home and professionally, and never bothered with these. I'm not sure what t

I feel like you could hop in a time machine and read something similar about the first iPhone, comparing it to the existing smartphones at the time. "No physical keyboard? Wow, ok Apple!". Its definitely possible that the Vision

Yes, and this made me hate Figma. Literally my only interactions with it have been getting dropped into some file with dozens of screens and maybe if I'm lucky they've zoomed it to the thing I'm implementing. I have no idea

Thank you so much for writing that. I was starting to lose hope of getting our data out of Heroku without some insane amount of downtime.

We'll keep that in mind, we're currently locked into a (ridiculous) enterprise contract with them. But it expires in November :) We're considering using this https://bucardo.org/Bucardo/ based on this

Does Cloud 66 have any resources on migrating a large (~300 GB) Postgres DB off Heroku, with minimal downtime? This has been our biggest sticking point when thinking about leaving Heroku.

For the most part comfort and small size are going to be something you need to pick one of, except the crazy creek. I’d recommend this for pure comfort but it’s large https://www.yeti.com/outdoor-living/chairs/2601

Your back isn’t the issue with crazy creeks, the original supports lower back enough. Really issue is just getting in and out of them (at least for me, I’m pretty tall)

If you think about Airbnb like the "Ticketmaster" of real estate, all the hate makes sense. There's all sorts of things wrong with real estate, landlords, etc but for the most part there's no single thing to blame. Air

Same issue here, CLI logout works, login gives invalid request. CLI deploys giving 500 error prior. Funny, we're just pricing out switching to another provider (or using something like Hatchbox.io) yesterday.

I believe in this case its that AI is hot right now, so AI SaaS companies are potentially getting a ton of new subscribers, charges, etc. So carders try to sneak into that traffic when testing cards so they go unnoticed.
