There are many that have a weak understanding of the language. I got asked some years back why I defaulted to C in some interview questions -- I grew up with the language, understand the nuances and many of the implementations. It's no

A lot of times the process differs if you are known or a no body. Which is what you describe. The town I live in has slum lords that are linked with the powers that be (friends, etc) that get away with appalling conditions unless someone p

It is interesting how in some rural areas, the update to infrastructure is happening via co-ops or small local firms. Volcano, CA and surrounding has it's own small telecom. Plumas County has a coop that is both installing fiber as w

I've not cycled in SF for commute reasons since the pre uber days. That said, other cyclists -- bike messengers -- were the largest danger to other cyclist, second was other cyclists, third was Muni. From a damage perspective, Muni wou

The title is wrong until hardware/software out there supports it. A spec does release does not mean an immediate vendor adoption.

The biggest issue with Prop 13 is the allowance for commercial properties. Prop 13 for protecting individual residential property owners on a fixed income from escalating "assessed" property values makes a good deal of sense. Esp

My point, didn't make it clear enough, if you point out issues like tracking needles (county exchange or pharmacy -- done through county ordering such), requesting enforcement of laws, etc. you end up being lectured that the city/

Apple has failed at cloud. They have fired their car group. Software-wise, they want MacOS to be as restrictive (I mean featureful) as iOS. Underwhelming hardware updates -- I work for Microsoft and was waiting on upgrading to a new MBP.

Depending where in the world you are, there are bars open at 10am (at least in the US). Beer at 10am, in a family situation, for me while in Germany (inlaws house) took me aback. But I don't have a problem doing so at an airport.
