Yes, Slab City is a trip and I was skimming things when I posted. The region and how people live/survive and advertisements for lots/etc. is quite a trip.

Salton City is briefly mentioned in the article. It and the Salton Sea are quite interesting places to visit and are certainly worth checking out. Parts of it are incredibly creepy, parts quite beautiful in a barren and lonely sense.

Travis himself has exhibited poor public behavior that was recorded by an Uber driver. That in itself reflects upon the company. Yes his assertiveness and drive got them where they are, but sometimes companies do need to grow up. Jobs was

Don't generalize the company products with the company teams. I don't have an opinion on your comments on Skype. Teams is a competitor and tied to Active Directory. But many employees are involved in slack channels across Micro

What's interesting thinking about history, would Webvan and Pets.com fall under "no demand", "too soon", or just tried to do too much given the timing? Now we have services that are similar, for instance chewy.com

I've worked as part of a larger local remote team for a number of years. I'm dealing with customers, group meetings, or hackfests on about a 3-5 day a month basis. Outside of that, I'm fully remote. I used to have a garage

The issue of addiction - especially meth and heroin - happens in rural / backwater areas as well as in urban / expensive. Santa Cruz and other parts of the Bay Area have huge meth and heroin problems. I've recently started s

You've done nothing to justify your "systemd + sensible" in this comment. You've just ranted against other technologies. I don't see the point.

As of maybe a month or so ago, tribe.net was still struggling along. Maybe a little new content, but interesting to go back and look at things. I knew a sys admin type that was helping keep it going (years ago). I recall an investor group

I worked at a startup where the company didn't hire the low skill H1Bs, but the engineering manager was hell bent on outsourcing things. It started logically with "support" type areas that should have been easy boiler plate.
