I have five cats. They are indoor / outdoor (I get them inside before dark). Living in a rural (forest) area, there is a fair amount of critters around. In the last six years, there have been maybe 6-8 birds caught and about 2 chick

Those libraries were originally written in the early/mid 90s. Don’t recall much in the way of code generation tools that would take those specs and generate the code at the time. Spent a bunch of time working with and adding to those

It is a good summary. My first reaction was "for pain and suffering". If you are hosting a server in some cloud provider, you probably still want to have your primary DNS not on that server. Yes, there are caveats.

Interesting list. 2021 brought back a desire of using fountain pens. It also found me splurging. I like heft in pens. I have a Cross and a german brand - from my ex-father-in-law. That got expanded. I prefer the german one (can't

I was more a FreeBSD person at the time, slutty to try various things, but 2000s think pads and FreeBSD just worked at some point and never changed that system. Used OSX otherwise. Printers were the other Linux/OS X usage gap.

I thought compiz was interesting and it did have an impact. That said, In the mid 2000s, Linux was better but still had issues getting video/etc configured properly (depending on what you wanted to do/your hardware). I specifical

As expected HN seems to have animosity towards Hedera. I was only pointing out their tech is actually pretty distributed.

I get your point, but there were a handful of people present that were armed in some form. That said, breaking into the Capitol Building was not a peaceful act.

I kind of wish those writing cloud services were forced to use and build things on those services. I suspect it would result in a good number of usability issues - like consistency in networking in different services.

I've dealt with snow in the PNW (including Vancouver, BC) and the region really isn't great about how to deal with it. Hell, WA and OR can barely deal with driving in the rain. If you want some humorous questions / etc. rega
