I have never heard of bacteriophages before. Doing some light research, I found their protein/body structures to look almost machine-like. Very fascinating stuff. From Wikipedia's Bacteriophage page: "Medical trials were carr

I believe that whether one behaves as an introvert or extrovert depends entirely on context. I've seen so-called 'social butterflies' hide in a corner and pretend to be occupied with their phone when put in an uncomfortable s

As a developer who also programs as a hobby, I dislike having to manually download, install, and configure each framework/platform I want to experiment with. With cloud IDEs like Cloud9, everything is already configured for me and just

Former IBM'er here. I worked in Power Software Development within STG, and was laid off alongside 3,300 other US employees this past June. After first quarter results became public, employee morale within STG pretty much sank. Contract

I wonder if livestock producers still feed Arsenic to livestock meant for organic products? It would be a shame if they do this by exploiting the technicality that Arsenic is entered through the feed in "organic form".

This is nice news! I'm very interested in seeing how their HTML5 client turns out. On a side note, I used to play Runescape years ago back in High School/College. Looks like so much has changed since then, maybe this summer I'll look to re-

The negative stigma that is placed on long-term unemployment is an issue that needs to be addressed; measuring how long someone has been unemployed is not really indicative of anything. The rationalization that "If no one has hired them in

It is more likely that an elite group in Pyongyang has internet and computer access, with a subset of that group given more privileges to engineer & deploy malware/etc. Given that though, I find it rather hard to believe the North Korea

I hope the fiber roll-out will also include the 78758/78759 Austin areas, not just because I live in the area, but also cause Google's Austin office is located there too :).

I've been living in Austin for roughly 2 years now. Great city to live, and is one of the friendlier cities in Texas. I'm looking forward to ditching Time Warner Cable Internet once Google Fiber goes live in Austin :).

I myself have made the personal decision to not use smartphones. I dislike twiddling with phones in general, and would prefer to use my simple flip phone for nothing more than calls or the occasional text message.

I'm very curious too, I wonder why this "waterhole" has not been publicly revealed yet? It would make it easier for others to identify whether they were exposed, and take the necessary actions to secure their workstations.

The map size as seen in the beta is about the same size as what will be seen in the retail version. The argument for this is that the new SimCity runs a much deeper simulation compared to previous titles, and that bigger maps would drastica

I wouldn't go as far as saying visiting North Korea is "profoundly immoral". Would I consider North Korea dangerous to visit though? Yes. The country is still technically at war with South Korea, meaning at any given moment the two nations

This is an interesting idea. However, for a noise box to be effective requires that a significant number of people are also using a noise box, which assures plausible deniability the same way TOR and shared-IP VPNs do. If you're the only on

As a software developer who lives in Austin, I find it disconcerting whenever I hear about developer layoffs, especially in our city. I hope this is just an isolated incident of bad company strategy than an overall industry trend.
