The moon is visible to ?half? the earth at a time? That’s a huge search area. Certainly the antennas broadcasting to the moon are quite directional, and outside the main beam, would be hard to detect?

I subscribe to the $50 plan, and for the past day, my results have been laggy. Once the query actually starts, it’s as fast as normal, but time to first token wouldn’t even be the best way to describe the issue - it appears to be a problem

I’d wondered about using moon bouncing in order to distribute video streaming keys (piracy) in a way which would make it impossible to locate the sender. Unlikely to be viable at scale, as the moon isn’t always visible, but it’s an intrigui

The IBM Tucson tape lab was able to recover the data from the space shuttle challenger’s tapes. I expect they could recover 52 year old tapes too.

I’m also curious about school zones. The one near my house has a sign, “School” “Speed Limit 35” “7:00AM to 4:00PM School Days” Now, how does a robotaxi comply with that? Does it go to the district website and look up the current school y

I fully expect my company to perform a large layoff next month. Many of my peers are on H1B, and if this fee applied to them, my company’s calculus on who to layoff would likely change. When I first heard about this fee, I went shopping for

Every dime paid by the H1B tax is a dime the US taxpayers don’t need to pay. The administration should go further and layer an additional tax on H1B’s income. That would reduce the amount the H1Bs take home. Excess pay in the tech industry

Those $100k fees can be used to fund STEM scholarships for US citizens. The H1Bs fees could be the billions training and educating them.

If the $100k fee was then designated for STEM scholarships for underserved students, this policy would be continued even by the democrats. If the justification of H1B is that the US does not produce enough engineers, let’s financially encou
