San Francisco is around 60% of the density of NYC. Outside of the US, cities like Taipei, Hong Kong, and Seoul are all similarly densely populated and have largely avoided the problems that have befallen New York due to quick responses and

Just flagged, but commenting as well. This article is poorly written and uninformative PR spam. All it does it tell us that important meetings lack conflict, then advertise its services, which are not related to meetings at all.

For what it’s worth, Jack Ma has a degree in English and taught English at a Chinese university. Chinese unis don’t have the best reputation, but I would expect him to be able to speak the language decently well at least.

Totally unrelated to the topic, but I really like this style of writing/speaking, where you open with a story that serves as an extended analogy on a familiar topic, and then dive into the (usually more complex) actual topic. Does anyo

The post you’re responding to says “people are irrational and unable to account for costs that are farther in the future,” not “I don’t care about costs that are farther in the future than my own lifetime.”

China's GDP appears to be about 20% export-driven. Subtracting this still leaves China the greatest polluter in the world, and by a large margin, the greatest polluter per unit of GDP, which is the real measure we should be looking at.

I’m not sure, I think “fail fast” could have benefited Theranos if they had seen the early failure of their machines and iterated on them rather than attempted to cover up the fact that they didn’t work.

Use of disposable plastics is actually _accelerating_ as China develops. The most developed cities are the ones where the most plastics get thrown away. In Shanghai, for instance, almost everything is delivered. Meals, products, groceries.
