Reddit has really degraded their mobile web experience over the past year or so. I can’t view this link at all on mobile, it just has a dialog with options to open the app or return to the Reddit homepage.

No, it’s not possible. All mining, for probably the past 4 or 5 years, is done on ASICs, typically in places selected for favorable energy or climate reasons.

If you have a credit card with capital one, they provide a browser extension for generating and managing virtual numbers which works like a charm. I’ve been happily using it for all online purchases for the past couple of years. No need to

Something that I don't see mentioned here, but which I believe drives a lot of the controversy around Node, is that it takes an extremely unopinionated approach to web development. That is, Node.js out of the box is really just a javas

Seems like the solution being offered up in the article is more bootcamp. > An eight-week online course could help someone land an entry-level job as a "pen tester," a network security engineer or an incident response analyst,

Somewhat relevantly, a closure isn't a "specific thing in a specific framework." Its a concept that exists in many languages, and has no real relation to frameworks. I would never treat someone like they're stupid in an

I'm not an hnreplies user, but IMO this is exactly what an incident disclosure should look: - What happened - The extent of the damage - Why it happened - Why it is less likely to happen again in the future Software

What do you see as the hypocrisy of LeBron? He's a successful athlete, and also is a person concerned about racism and institutional failings in his country and in his community. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. Plenty

Some real insights on China as well: "One of the main challenges that we had with China is that we are on the other side of the globe. You could hardly be more opposite on the clock." Shocker that a guy who had apparently never ev

Is it really that implausible that half the population isn't willing to think critically about a nuanced problem, or to accept evidence that contradicts their desired narrative? Statistics aren't always reliable, but somewhere aro

There was a very similar story (minus the Latvians) out of New Jersey a couple of months back, and it was COBOL. As as a sibling commenter noted, its always COBOL in these types of stories.

As a reasonably well-adjusted adult living in a city with plenty of interesting stuff to do, sure, there are a million better date options. Drinks, a museum, a walk in the park, almost anything beats a movie. But as a nervous 16-year old ki

Staying in Brooklyn, but without a commute. New York is still a nice place to live, and rent prices seem to have come down 10-20%. Let’s see how things are looking come winter though. Could be pretty grim without bars/restaurants to go

I lived and worked in China for nearly a decade, which I would say is first hand experience of this. But you don't need firsthand experience to understand that significant discrimination exists. China is 92% Han Chinese, and official s
