   It's already perfectly feasible to do. Meta/Apple etc. can just deploy a client that decrypts the message, scans it, re-encrypts (with a different key) and sends it to their storage where they can store it forever and decrypt if n

   Well of course it is calling C. The point of this argument is that you don't have to go all in and write your code in C to get good performance. You can just write good Python and get almost as fast code as C that will take you 5 time
