I think it's noteworthy that the article you point to pertains to common law and testimony, rather than to philosophy, pedagogy, or education. When a student freely explores a concept, that clearly demonstrates a higher ability or skil

If you are just a user, and it's a binary, I'd say there's no compelling reason you should. If you are a developer, you might want to know if you can easily make local changes, you might be interested in contributing, or you

My XPS 13 with Ubuntu (dual booted) is a nice machine but still has problems (track pad, wifi, kernel panic waking from sleep).

Then again, you used the term "insane" inappropriately. To a certain extent, you have to accept some slang during discussion. And, in addition to the fact that power is a core concept in sociology, what dating dynamics are "m

I really think Gary agrees with you, and you're just picking an unnecessary fight. Having advocated for this kind of approach decades ago, he fully appreciates the novelty of the approach. He points out the simplicity of Jeopardy and

The story is simplified. The 10x engineer is usually someone who has the technical skills and knows have to deploy them effectively. The 10x finishes the Wordpress site and then moves on to the next task, and the next, and the next comple

This is absolutely ridiculous. Obviously a 10x engineer is not the one who churns out lines of code, but instead the one who produces results without a lot of code. > I have observed that some people are able to get 10 times more done th

Great comment. It's a bit hazy when you say that code is a liability and also that they've got an ideal codebase because you can add value easily due to the existing code. Maybe something more like: " new code is a liability

6 months is not very long, so it's not surprising that you don't know what's already available in your company's codebase. That's true whether it's monolithic or not, in Java or another language, on a single se

I thought about this some more, and much of the criticism in the article boils down to preferring more deadlifts and fewer squats. Stronglifts argues that you'll be doing so many squats that you won't need more deadlifts, and that

In general Starting Strength is a great resource. I love the directness and simplicity in focusing on a few key lifts, though I wish it included a barbell row. The difference between 5x5 and 3x5 is pretty small. Both Stronglifts and Startin

First, simply invoking the Laffer curve is irrelevant. I think most of us implicitly understand that there is a maximum revenue somewhere above 0% and below 100% taxation. What's not obvious is where that is, ie whether current tax rat

Spotify is: a library, a streaming service, and a web/desktop player. This is: a streaming service and a web player. You have to provide your own library, which I think goes hand in hand with self-hosted .
