I wonder if the final, low price here will end up empowering consumers more or instead just reduce quality. HN often laments the rise of free-to-play games with IAP, and I wouldn't be surprised if even more of the industry tends toward

It seems like a major motivation for this project is to be able to use Java libraries from Javascript (a la Jython). There are a non-negligible number of libraries that only exist for Java, and being able to harness those from JS sounds n

I've had similar problems with just Google Voice -- it will actually drop texts very frequently. I have to ask if the other person received my message, and they often have to resend messages. It's soooooo infuriating. And they

At least Cox isn't too bad in comparison with the horror stories I've heard about dealing with Comcast or TWC... still, it is not fun to deal with them. Plus, 1 gbps for $70 sounds a lot more appetizing than 50 mbps for $74.

Got my hopes up there for a little bit... if only they came to Santa Barbara -- we have plenty of tech people here willing to pay for awesome internet! (and get away from Cox...) I'll keep dreaming :)

Note that the badges are smart cards, not a (comparatively) dumb RFID chip with storage. Thus, they can't really be cloned, anyway.

Does this mean I can translate JS to LLVM bitcode with this tool, then translate that bitcode back to Javscript with Emscripten? Sounds amazing :)

That's IDA, the interactive disassembler. The free version's not too bad, but if you're doing any work with 64bit, you'll need the pro version, which is a fairly hefty sum (at least for a student like me).

I won one of your Launchpads at CSAW -- it seems that was just a teaser to this challenge. I'm having lots of fun so far!

Huh. Apparently that one's identical to Mid 2012 except for a tiny improvement in CPU, so that sounds promising. Thanks!

If the structure is immutable after you've produced it, you can use extra::arc::Arc<T> [0], and once all the references are dropped the memory will be deallocated. I haven't used C++, so this might be very similar to std::sh

Does anyone know if the 15" 2012 MBPR (that is, MacBookPro10,1) supports 4K with its HDMI output under Mavericks? Of course, it will only be 30Hz, but that's tolerable.

I don't think 1.0 is close, so we still have time to change the language. However, when the day does come, we'll have the guarantee.

It's not like they have much choice -- they're bound under the DMCA to do so. In fact, GitHub's probably one of the best companies about this sort of thing with their full transparency.

Function-level optnone is definitely something I would appreciate as well. Optimized code can often look nothing like the original code... and having the whole binary non-optimized is just too slow.
