Also it would be nice if there was room for opinions even when creating topics. I know your community page[1] says submissions should be factual and neutral. There are all sorts of things I wouldn't post based on that. For instance my favor

I like it. There is definitely a need for this sort of information in the community. For some reason markdown isn't working right with my first post. Specifically the embedded link: http://www.thrutched.com/freedom-of-the-hills

I like this sort of approach for community oriented captcha. Ask a question that anyone within the community would know or could easily find out but a general purpose spam bot or average person would be unable to solve. If the community is

In clojure/lein[1][2] it's simple enough though not really equivalent to a real executable: lein uberjar That'll create a standalone jar. But, of course, the computer will need some sort of JRE. This definitely reminds me of creating

Yeah this is surprising as an ex .NET developer. Another packaging project is http://coapp.org/ I believe the coapp project owner is now a Microsoft employee (presumably a good sign even if NuGet wins).

I currently write clojure on a macbook[1]. It's an ideal setup. I prefer it to my past linux setups (maybe just personal preference). The core setup is bash/emacs/slime/lein. I think it comes down to being an emacs user more so than which o

This is absolutely true. I think it's a cultural difference within the Windows development community. I've made maybe two bug reports to Microsoft related to .NET or SQLServer in the past 8 years. Everything else was either already reported

I have everything running on windows in msys/bash/emacs with lein and cmd.exe with lein.bat. But I also have all the appropriate GNU tools installed and working enough to build with gcc/g++. So my install is relatively complete and probably

Yeah that is ridiculous. It's misleading for potential netcat users. And by banning it there can be no discussion about how to actually use it safely and responsibly. "hacking tools" are banned. If you are asked about it. The best way is

That's an artifact from a past era. Likely from BBSes, gaming or IRC. I think it should come off as the equivalent to a dialect that just provides some insight to the poster. I know when I use it it's usually unintentional and subconscious.

Ya I hear that. My take is if you have a way to announce to people that you are quitting social_network_001 then you likely didn't need it and aren't even close to an average user anyways. It's when your average user stops or worse slowly s

As far as I can deduce that comment was not directed at you. I don't quite know why you'd take such a personal offense to it either. In my opinion this response is an example of what aneth is referring to in thier comment.

Ya that's a lot of money. It makes sense that if you are concerned with VC backed executive salaries $999 is probably a minor expensive. Google had a link to an older one on scribd: http://www.scribd.com/doc/13743949/2008-Compstudy-Report-

I agree. I never put my grades on my resume. It was what I did outside of school and how I interviewed that mattered. Don't be ashamed of your illness. Be direct, honest and proud that you got a degree at all. You presumably came out of the
