I feel this. My opinion is that folks on either side are not well informed. Those who say AI won’t disrupt coding that much seem to use anecdotal evidence. Their own experiences, mostly. And perhaps they are using it differently than thos

Accessible UX results in good UX. I use a modern browser and appreciate how reliably Hacker News works. It's a great example of less is more when it comes to UX.

Is there much material difference to publishers to opt out of AI Mode given how much of the distribution Google controls? I understand it prevents publishers' works from being "stolen" but leaves them without a major distribu

I can say with some certainty that folks inside of Google are not sitting around talking about nextcloud. More likely is some paydown of technical debt or effort to simplify leading to the removal of that permission and deciding the ramific

It's likely a lot less about giving Google's first-party apps privileged access than it is a super low priority for the team to allocate engineering effort to. I was a PM in Google Workspace for several years. It's a lot less

I think this is a great idea. I’ve learned so much on YouTube but it’s always been in small chunks and very task oriented. I imagine there’s a lot of content Which covers broad topics that I don’t come across. Something I’ve been doing more

I haven’t been diagnosed with ADHD and this isn’t a particular weak spot for me but even I can relate. I find it most hard when there’s a mismatch in reciprocity. I enjoy learning from posts like this because it can help identify patterns I

That's the wrong question. See how many people know Google vs. ChatGPT. As popular as ChatGPT is, Google's the stronger brand.

That’s my understanding also. I think a project that’s vibe coded could easily be recreated by a programmer using coding assistance.

I don’t think that’s a counter example. If hood maps shows a lot of potential then the $11k is something to figure out. If not, then it’s poor price controls. IIUC Pieter Levels talks a lot about not prematurely optimizing engineering solut

I do think it’s binary. The project either shows potential to meet your goal or it doesn’t. I think it’s rare that fails to show potential because of the underlying technology that’s chosen. Sure, Vercel is relatively expensive. But I just

It's the right trade-off, IMO. Most projects won't succeed and the ones that do can be refactored - by real engineers if needed.

I think these companies have found what they believe to be best fit. The question is, "fit for what?". The answer to that is maximum short term profits. If you can't show benefits in the span of 1 quarter, it might as well no
