I don't disagree that it's inevitable. But I think there's value in slowing down this type of progress so society has more time to adapt. That's why I called out that the value added by self checkout stations is only mar

I'm not convinced it is that easy for someone working as a cashier to find another job. Especially if low skill work is being replaced by robots. Also given that cashiers are already at or near the poverty level they're likely goi

I purposely checkout with human cashiers despite the fact that self-checkout is almost always faster. Sometimes technology provides so much benefit that it's a no-brainer to adopt. I don't think that's the case for self-check

My son had an imaginary dog named Baxter from 1-3 yrs old. It was great --- we would set a plate on the floor with food for Baxter at dinner time. He's 9 now and I miss Baxter.

Meh. I wasn’t going to bother getting a lawyer involved for a balance of a few thousand dollars. I did threaten legal action though it proved futile. Out of curiosity, why was it not a good course of action? Did the client have any leverage

Disclaimer: I'm not sure what the legality of this was so I'm not recommending it - but it proved effective in my case. I was owed several thousand dollars by a client and they were several months late in making a payment. They st

Thanks for your response. My son is 9 and he goes through phases of having some sort of tic (throat clearing, head shaking, blinking, etc). They're not too bad, relatively speaking, and no one has really noticed. Or if they do then the

I imagine teachers don't have the time to have this type of 1:1 interaction with the 25 students in their class. Seems like email/phone communication to the parents is reasonable here. Something like disciplinary action would have

It's not the most reliable but it worked pretty well. The Google Drive sync they're deprecating today is what made Google Photos not a 'dead end'. I've been using it for 3 years and am really bummed that this means

Flickr's a decent alternative to Google Photos but is not comparable to the combination of Google Drive + Google Photos. The combination they're deprecating is not offered anywhere else.

My main issue with iCloud Photos is that there's no way to disable auto-upload. The idea of every photo I being uploaded in an instant to iCloud is such a deal breaker for me. As far as I can tell there's no option which can repla
