This looks great. I wish I had heard of HiFiBerryOS a year ago. I ended up going with two Sonos Amps (one requirement for me was everything be wired) to play music in 2 zones. I searched a bit and didn’t come across anything like this. None

My most interesting ideas take months and sometimes years to click. The most challenging part of my current job (PM at bigco) is that the time and space doesn't exist. Ideas are extruded based on timeline (and other) pressures. I'

I assume a small fraction would pay $8/mo for Twitter. Limiting who can reply seems like a useful feature - I think this already exists for "only people I follow".

She does have (access to) them now but she'll likely only ever use or need to use them after I die. It's a lot easier for her to ask me a question than figure out how to log in and find it herself.

Having a will is the correct Plan B. It needs to be Plan A, as well. But a shortcut to get access to your accounts without having to go through a will and lawyer will be appreciated by your wife if only you die.

In case of my death, I want to make it as easy as possible for my wife to carry on. Having access to our accounts (which I mostly manage) so she can do whatever she needs is a lot more important than the well-established processes you menti

I stopped using Google Photos in favor of Synology Photos which comes pretty close in terms of functionality and polish. Google Photos is excellent. Synology Photos is really good. And this seems to be a worthwhile tradeoff for me. Disclaim

I grabbed my phone a few seconds after feeling the quake and Googled "earthquake in california today". I'm amazed that the earthquake showed up as the top result with an exact coordinate and magnitude.

The title's use of "undid" takes away from the point which is that one year of wildfires created A LOT of emissions. Earning $300 and having to buy food for $300 is a lot better than having to buy the food without earning any

The post is promoting building applications in a loosely coupled but highly cohesive manner. It mentions using libraries when appropriate and not duplicating code. I agree with this but it requires a lead who's good at architecting suc

I’m involved in a few personal finance communities and this is very true. I especially see it in people who are in their 20s or 30s and started investing after the US subprime crash.

In this case, you don’t have much choice if company stock makes up a large portion of your income. You can sell immediately but the money you receive from that transaction is much less - it’s lowered income even if you immediately diversify

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said and I’m not sure if you’re a parent. But I quickly realized that raising an actual human defies most of what I thought would work. I think computers are great. Is the stuff computers introduce kids

Every parent will have different philosophies and every child matures at different rates. That being said, we have continued to push back the age when our kids have an internet connected device of their own (oldest is a 7th grade / 12y

I worked at Yahoo! when the company offered to acquire Facebook for $1.4 billion. Most thought Zuck was a fool to pass on that. He 300x’d it in 10 years.

At Facebook’s market cap, vercel and laravel are immaterial in terms of revenue. It’s very hard for a company of this size to find something to move the needle enough to make a difference. Look at Google. YouTube is worth $120 billion with

I worked in Google Workspace. A CIO needs to see significant upside in choosing a non Microsoft solution to take the risk of not going with on-prem /cloud AD. Very few enterprises, this is an understatement, use Workspace exclusively.

Adobe's market cap is $150bln. At some point, if Figma continued to grow then they might not have been able to make an attractive offer. That's a problem they felt was worth $20bln to avoid.
