Yeah, I’ve run the same dev setup since the M1 came out. Totally stable and robust. Nothing wild at all. Every .NET dev who’s on an ARM Mac today is most likely doing the same. If you like you can run Windows ARM in a VM on the same Mac if

I really appreciate what I can do with .NET and I don’t do much care for the language that I need to use. Yes C# is nicer compared to Java and C++, but after many years with Haskell they all are nowhere nearly as ergonomic and expressive, w

To me it’s not about the language, I can anytime switch to Kotlin or Scala, even Clojure but I don’t do LISP. To me it’s mostly about the developer experience, build tools and the simplicity in the ops. In JVM there’s so many moving pieces

Perhaps because Java is a mess? Much easier to hire? Where? In some locations there’s a 2:1 to 4:1 of C# over Java ratio for demand. And your “why not just use” something else is kinda condescending. You do realize that’s not how one is sup

How is the first paragraph significant or even relevant? What scenario are you contemplating to hedge against? And there are other frontend options that go without any JS on your side, so it’s quite avoidable. In most cases it’s impractical

This is kinda totally off. You could say that about Spring and Pivotal/Tanzu/VMware or even Quarkus and Red Hat, or just IBM. In my experience though those words apply best to much of the Python and Rust landscape. You could say m

Would appreciate if you could spare some time to elaborate. I’ve had pretty much the worst experience with Teams of all communication solutions. I just can’t figure out what’s going on with it. On Macs it constantly misbehaves. Is it due to

Opposite experience with sbt here. It’s been much more useful than Maven or Gradle. Only fewer plug-ins than Gradle.

No, it was real RSS resource utilization. Basically due to many extra beans being loaded by Spring and extra allocations due to the typical abstractions. If you run it on a smaller instance, your Java process goes out of memory and will hav

Just to add some context, Micronaut 4 supports VTs (via the blocking scheduler), while Quarkus runs on Vert.x, which in turn runs on Netty. There’s also Helidon, in which Nima has become an alternative to Netty as a server. This topic was a

Oh, I wasn’t aware Node had originally pitched performance. Was it only in the context of single-threaded IO? Yes, from the hiring perspective that “isomorphism” makes a lot of sense on paper. Pardon me, in your third paragraph, what “other

It’s a different paradigm than asynchrony and reactive streams. It’s not like you could just ignore anything. And with thread pinning you still should control what you’re doing.

Late? For what? Lightweight threads weren’t a reason to move to Node or Go. The Loom fibers are very special in that the blocking syntax doesn’t change, there’s no apparent coloring, and you can easily adapt your blocking calls to the light

This is just unbelievable. And plans do have a habit to change unexpectedly. There are certain red lines that a data storage company should never cross. Total loss of credibility going forward, at least until fresh, unaware users flock in.
