What a bummer. I was hoping for something new about Kindle and this article does little more than try to funnel readers into the registration-required Standard Prediction Market. Oh well. Move along; nothing to see here.

These NYT articles requiring registration that have been popping up on here every day are getting annoying.

That's pretty neat. Did anyone else see the doofus sitting several rows behind Obama wearing a Green Bay Packers hat? Geez... It's the presidential inauguration for crying out loud.

You could say the same thing about the iPhone being locked to ATT. Personally, I consider ATT to be a deal breaker so I never gave any consideration to the iPhone. I really don't care how good of a phone it is. On the other hand, I have bee

I understand the part where you said a wiki is a database. I guess it could fit some loose definition of a database. But what does that have to do with anything? The whole point of the article was the simplicity of the SQL schema. The link

You could take a look at Aqua Data Studio or DB Visualizer. I haven't used DB Designer so I don't know how they compare, but DB Visualizer is a pretty nice tool and not too expensive.

What does that have to do with an SQL database schema? And what's the significance of the link structure? It's not so dissimilar from other websites or the web itself. Sure, it would probably make for a cool looking graph, but it has no bea

I'd say it's a ways off considering how many years they've spent trying to shoot down much larger missiles with lasers. A missile moves much faster than a bird, but the small size of a bird is going to make it extremely difficult. There's a

The gist of the article is this: 1) The author loves Amazon and eBay. 2) Amazon is the best at cataloging items and eBay is still trying to solve this problem with user-generated items. 3) eBay is the auction monster and Amazon has an inter

I think it was a combination of things. If I remember correctly, AIM was an AOL subscription exclusive in the beginning so only the dopes on there were using it. The cool kids were on ICQ and I think there were very few AOL users willing or

Have you seen Spring lately? I'm not sure it's much of an improvement. Stripes is nice as far as Java web frameworks go, but it's fairly simple and this is where the problem lies. Someone comes up with a tool that's great for a specific job

I think it's kind of lame to have a site about education with some made up variation of the word 'education' as the name. It's fine to use a made up word with no meaning. It's fine to use a play on words. It's also ok to use some completely

I'm guessing it's because without windows it would look like a tank too. I can think of at least a couple reasons why having the President rolling around in a tank isn't a good idea, and they obviously don't think it's a good idea either si

I don't even know how to respond to that. What are you trying to say? That this should be some kind of inspiration to readers here? There's hope that one's startup can eventually go public if AFF can do it? A twelve-year-old casual sex meet

This is informative. I had never heard of Rack before. It seems very similar to Python Paste. Neat. However, I don't see what this has to do with my original comment. It doesn't address any of the concerns I raised about the john_dahl's com

That's a completely valid problem, but at best it's debatable whether it applies to Ruby web frameworks. There's not exactly a plethora of mature web frameworks available. Rails and Merb seemed to be the most firmly established frameworks w
