It's absurd to me that this "Developer Edition" laptop can be purchased with, at most, half of the 32 GB of RAM that my 6.5 year old ThinkPad has had since day one.

Running $ echo min-cache-ttl=300 | \ sudo tee /etc/dnsmasq.d/99-min-cache-ttl.conf will likely cut down on the number of forwarded queries by a large amount. Adjust the value (in seconds) to your needs. Don'

Google Public DNS, at least, provides a public web form you can use to clear cached DNS records [0]. Not sure about any others. [0]: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/cache

I've been saying for several years that, eventually, we will all end up having to put in "default deny" rules for our outgoing traffic, just as we do today for incoming traffic. (Either that, or hosts will have to be config

What if he let the kid type away for an hour, hashed that with SHA512, and used that as a seed for an RNG? Gigabytes of perfectly usable key material could be generated!

Using the blacklist is simpler but it uses a two second TTL (bit looks like that can be changed in the 01-pihole.conf file, though). I'd rather it return NXDOMAIN, though. That's what I had to do to block DNS-over-HTTPS for Fire

All of Ubiquiti's changelogs consist exclusively of short one-liners such as this -- and pretty much useless. It's like they just copy and paste the 50-character commit messages or something.

Don't bother reading through the responses -- it's mostly others arguing about what GDPR is or isn't. Ubiquiti's official response [0] is near the bottom of the thread: > We have started to gather crashes and other c

I'm gonna go searching for it but, in the meantime, anyone know the process for submitting a hostname to be added to any of the lists used by PiHole, et al.? The hostname that Ubiquiti is using -- trace.svc.ui.com -- seems like exact

I've used just about all of the "hypervisors" at one point or another. If this is all new to you, I'd suggest perhaps starting with Proxmox VE [0]. That'll give you a decent (web) GUI to use to manage everything. On

If you take the time (once) to configure it correctly, auditd can tell you much, much more than just what commands were executed (and "hiding" the commands you ran via sudo is fairly trivial, if one is so inclined).
