I'm a huge "fan" of F/OSS but, unfortunately, such condescending answers are all too common in this "community".

If you were looking for a "secure OS", why did you ever consider Windows in the first place?

Really? I've never used Windows 10 and it's been years since I had a Windows machine on my desk but is it really that difficult to imagine and/or understand why ~90% of the world's PCs run Windows?

Bugs happen. Programmers are not perfect. They published an advisory with workarounds and, I'm certain, are working diligently on a patch. If that's unacceptable to you, I suggest you switch to another operating system -- one that

The President of the U.S. has said this, but pretty much any medical expert I've seen on television has said there's zero evidence to support that assertion at this point. In other words, don't count on it (additionally, igno

You are, obviously, free to do that -- regardless of how stupid it seems. If you do, however, please at least have enough respect for the rest of society to isolate yourself as much as possible afterwards.

Many years ago, Jeremy Stretch created a series of (networking-centric) "cheat sheets" [0] which may be of interest. As boring as they can be to read, the RFCs are still the best single reference WRT network protocols and such. --

I've had FreeNAS running on a 2U Supermicro box for a year and a half or so (I ran FreeBSD on it prior to that). My needs are pretty simple and I don't need 90% of the features either. I only use iSCSI (for the VMware servers in m
