Presumably because it's not aimed at those people so much as fledgling entrepreneurs in steady jobs afraid to take that risk.

Seedcamp (of late, at least) aims at a much more mature company/idea than YC does. Although there are exceptions.

I feel the term Open Source in this context refers to open sharing of closed (proprietary rather than copyrighted) information, not specific copyright/patent-free work. Game mechanics may not be copyrightable, but the reasoning behind them/

Having seen the sheer amount of tools listed by HN readers in other threads, and understandably so, I doubt many people here would want to (or be able to) use it for their daily work. Until 280 North take over the world, that is.

I always prefer to see these things in context (how well does a naive rule-based classifier do? what's the P/R/F-score i.e. how many Apples are apples and apples are Apples? What about Apple Records?) It's still fun to remember how quick an

You make great points for the engineering minded, and the original article was about nerds, so that's all grand. However; when I inwardly cringe at these ideas being rehashed (possibly not the machine learning one), it's when someone non-te

I can't see how there would be a correlation between answering this question well and being a good Product Manager. What if there's a product planned that specifically aims at piano tuners? Or a feature change that would affect piano tune

If you are Product Manager for Google's Adwords, how do you plan to market this? Bad question unless you ascertain the candidate knows enough about Adwords to give a good answer. (Whether a candidate should know enough about your core pro

Actually, I know it from ML. I was more smiling at it existing in Python, than Python having 'invented' it.

This is the reason I stuck with Python for my development and production code. Python scientific programs running on the backend, using all sorts of fancy libraries (NLTK and numpy mostly) and then a Django frontend that plugs right in. I'm

I was typing out BASIC programs when I was around 6, got to love growing up with the Spectrum/C64 and the wonderful BBC Micro. I think it worked well; I still remember it being so magical (a since overused word sadly), and a lot of my early

I've mostly written technical articles in-place in the Wordpress editor (backing up the raw html manually as even I don't have that much faith in The Cloud). Longer-form, I've only ever used LaTeX, as the sort of articles I write are more e

Check out Castronova's "Exodus to the Virtual World" for an entire book based around this concept -- if life in the virtual world is so much more fun than reality, surely we'll see full-on migrations to 100% virtual existence (caveat the

Gamification is simply the application of a ton of learnings (and in some cases, pure intuition) about how humans behave, what drives us, and how to keep us engaged. In terms of "stick badges on it and people will keep using your product",
