I don't mean this in a mean way, but I'm actually happy that you use this heuristic. I don't want to work at a place where doing what everyone else is doing is valued for its own sake, and you're making this easy for me

I'm not aware of any country where gas taxes cover the externalities of the emission of that carbon. I'm also not aware of any country where gas taxes and car registration fees come close to paying for the total cost of roads.

It's tough to be Sorting out Sorting, although I grant that it doesn't have all the newfangled algorithms that this page has. Really, you need to watch this if you haven't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJw

So argue. Much armchair quarterback. Very flame. Wow. It's entirely appropriate and reasonable to say "I don't understand why Facebook would do this; please explain it to me." But it reflects a supreme lack of humili

This benchmark doesn't specify a pickle protocol, which forces Python to use a big, inefficient format. I filed a bug. https://github.com/benfred/bens-blog-code/issues/1

Thank you to everyone who responded to this poll! I used TaxACT for the past two years -- I'd avoided TurboTax because intuit is evil (see other comments here). But based on the responses here, I decided to try out TurboTax, and it i

This is good and necessary, but I see this as mostly symbolic. In practical terms, coercing a browser vendor into modifying their binaries to add an exploit is a comparatively risky and difficult way for the NSA to get a backdoor. There a
