In the optical world we call it OTDR (optical time domain reflectometry). What an imaginative bunch we are /s. You can get a tiny box to do it, to find fiber breaks and bad splices.

They're not reconciled, it's just garbage reporting. The 'area theorem' they are referring to was by Bekenstein and others, not Hawking. It's basically the equivalent of the second law of thermodynamics for black ho

The default markup is awful, check the Dell website. I'd describe the process of buying a drive from Dell a bit like getting mugged.

They already sell them, but personally I thought they were too expensive, probably they were adding a mark-up on their build price when selling them.

I'm surprised Dell don't make they buy hard drives from them at a substantial mark-up, as they allude to vendors doing earlier in the story.

'Cool' is probably a misnomer here when you're talking about vibrations rather than cryogenics, even though you can apply the concept of temperature to such a system.

It’s started to change unfortunately, for example audio doesn’t really work on skylake or kabylake chromebooks yet. They are moving to more custom hardware.

Even e^(ix) = cosx + i*sinx is an obvious result of the definition i^2= - 1.

This is what I use. I do have an issue where Firefox hangs (requiring a kill -9) after the end of any WebRTC call, but I don't think that's related.

Out of interest, does that mean they are using 4 IPs per customer? If they're handing out one /30 per customer.

There’s still a limit to the production capacity available, these are still incredibly complex manufacturing processes, just not cutting edge. Personally my take away from that was “what is a smart toaster and why would anyone need that”.

I have a history of doing incredibly dangerous things and it terrifies me. The exposed wiring isn’t the worst in my opinion, it’s the uncased high intensity UV-C light source. Arc eye is a truly horrible thing that I would wish on nobody.

Do you actually know how much a sub-10nm mask set costs? There’s a lot of speculation from people who don’t have access to those numbers. Those who do are bound by NDAs.

In the UK, the computer misuse act is extremely broad and in theory covers a huge amount of stuff. I’m not familiar with the equivalent rules in china.

That’s a linear mixing, non-linear allows for the absorption of two photons followed by the emission of one with twice the energy. That allows for a laser pumped frequency doubler. Actually most consumer oriented lasers (for example green l

Sure, let’s say you have an s-parameter network that represents a PCB. You have 10 ports, 1 for the DC-DC converter, one for an ASIC and 8 for capacitors. You take s-parameter models of the capacitors from the vendor (Murata, AVX, etc) and

You can survive without, just. For thermals you can create an equivalent electrical circuit and use SPICE. For power integrity you can mostly make do by cascading s-parameters and there is an Excel sheet floating around somewhere that'

My advice would be to use a tcl build script in non-project mode, check in your tcl script and verilog files and don't use block based design or 'IP' based design.
