XForms has a bigger scope and is connected to XHTML. Two good reasons why this might succeed where XForms failed.

If you use alphabetically ordered keys (a pretty good practice anyhow), that advantage goes away. If you just develop a habit of adding stuff to the front where semantics do not matter, that advantage goes away.

Yes, that's why you would use F# in .NET if you want something like Scala. And then I heard many people say that .NET wins again.

Maybe I'm crazy/misremembering. But other than the "we're focussed on polishing it first" I thought I also read something reaffirming an interest (not from Apple officially but from one of the devs) to open source.

They have expressed interest in open-sourcing Swift pretty much immediately after announcing it. Both on Twitter and later (?) on the LLVM mailing list. No official Apple announcement and far from a guarantee that it will happen - but "

I think the author makes it pretty obvious that he's only speaking about "your writing systems sucks for me while doing my job". Sure, the title is hyperbolic - but with a title like "Your language sucks" nobody sho

I don't know why but for me it seemed like it works on second attempt but then consistently. E.g.: first option-click still goes into fullscreen, go back to windowed, try again and it maximizes. Don't ask me why.

The article was published 5 days before the release of Java 8 - at least if my quick googling was correct. That might explain why it doesn't mention repeating annotations as a solution.

async/await is an upcoming JS feature that actually is kind-of supported by Bluebird when combined with generators. The author just didn't know about it (I guess) and reimplemented it via macros.

If you think there's no inter-Europe nationalism I'm not sure where you live. There's a bunch of it. In my environment (German) growing up it was mostly about French, Polish, and a bit about British people. Sure, straight rac

It's not about "making a mistake", it's about cases where you'd want to create objects but using `new` would be awkward. E.g. `myListOfRawData.map(MyConstructor)` when you unmarshal data. Sure, you could create an a

Because it takes an enormous amount of work, most of node.js source code (or at least a lot of it) is basically libuv bindings for V8. To make it work on top of SpiderMonkey is a lot of work (though multiple people tried). And the gains fro

Where exactly is the difference between "knowing your place in a hierarchy" and "knowing who is stronger and who is weaker"? Seems to me like two different ways of expressing the exact same thing.

I'm pretty sure they refer to the inability to type ß. Which is a real concern for type writers, less so for most keyboards. I'm writing this using an American keyboard and I don't see why I shouldn't use "ß" j

Depending on your concept of time, it very much is. If you choose the same abstraction of time for reasoning about the program state and the real world, the same "reference" might change its properties over time. The speed of a ca

Maybe my comment was misleading - the important part is the property read, not the `console.log`. The following code might be an infinite loop in JavaScript: function adder(arr, obj) { for (var i = 0; i < arr.length; ++i) {

JavaScript is complex enough that pretty much any code inside of the loop could end up doing an array push. Even `console.log(myCompletelyUnrelatedObject.x)` (given an evil property descriptor).
