No. Was there something specific about the article that made you wonder that, or is this merely one of the knee-jerk reactions we get every time we write a positive article about anything?

One other thing that has helped me keep my sanity: wash and fold laundry service. You take your dirty laundry, put it in a bag, and they'll clean and fold it for a modest fee (the place around the corner from me is around $1.10 a pound). In

Yes, sorry for not being more clear in my original post. It sounded to me like fees from outbound international calls originating in the US will be used to subsidize the domestic US calls.

One thing to note: the blog post says that calls in US and Canada are free at least through the end of the year. I asked about this during the Q&A (seemed like a pretty big asterisk) and they said they have every intention of keeping it

No, more like "Hey, I've got this game that's sorta like Pong, want to play?" The game requires sitting within a foot or two of each other and using teamwork to steer through the 'physical' parts. I really don't think this idea is so far fe

Depends on the person, I guess. When I mentioned to the Koduco guys that this seemed like it would be a pretty fun game to flirt/play with a date, they agreed.

Writer for TechCrunch here. There's some good advice in the linked article, and ilamont's comment is great. That said, I disagree with the linked article's advice on how to personalize a story for the writer you're targeting. Their example

Just talked to them. They claim it actually is a miscommunication involving Apple's 'Made for iPod' program and that the site should be back soon (apparently a third party retailer had marked their item as "On Sale" without permission, whic

That's actually not what I said and you've put quite a few words into my mouth (I am not a big fan of the ubiquitous "ly's", to be honest). I doubt I even saw this email — 3 AM on a Sunday is not prime time for reading pitches. And, as I wr

Yeah, even without the YC connection that alone would have probably made this enough to pursue.

I'll bite (I wrote this post). I actually mentioned VisualWebsiteOptimizer at the bottom of the Optimizely post, but no, I haven't done a full profile on it. If the founder happens to read this, I'd be happy to check out the site — make sur

It's not really irony, we just have different opinions. I've been covering the issues for a long time and disagree with MG here (I'll probably post a response to him in a few days).

If you don't like the stock Android keyboard (or even if you do) I'd highly recommend trying out Swype. It's pretty damn impressive. Not perfect, but it's definitely a strong alternative.

Regarding this one: "Pretending your faults don't exist." Having seen quite a few pitches myself, one good thing you can do is point out your major flaws/obstacles before you're asked about them (assuming they don't clearly spell out your i

This is totally false. We don't get a bonus based on traffic, and we never have (and hopefully never will).

The email exchange was never that interesting to begin with. But if this is true then it means Apple PR lied on the record about the story, which would be significant.

Apple has reversed the block and the developers are being invited to resubmit the app in its original form: http://techcrunch.com/2010/06/14/apple-reverses-block-of-osc... For what it's worth, I specifically asked them if it was the kissi

At Google I/O they held a press conference immediately following the Google TV announcement where I asked about bringing the 10 foot experience to the web. One of the project's lead PMs answered (as did Adobe's CEO, to a limited extent). Se

The Gmail team is most definitely aware of this and a fix is in the works. At SXSW this year there was a panel with four or five Gmail team members and this came up — they said it's related to the size of your inbox, and that it has a lot

Speaking as a tech blogger who has seen thousands of these, I really don't know who they are written for. The trick is to simply skip over anything that's a quote (which often make up around half of the words). Those quotes are rarely actua

Check out the story, starting on page 16 of the embedded Scribd doc in this article, of the police making contact with the guys who found the phone. They allegedly tried to hide evidence in a church and a bush.

I'm the same way; if I am busy I put off eating for hours longer than I should. Unfortunately I find that if I don't eat anything for a long time, I get progressively dumber. I read something that said there's a strong correlation between

This is the same kind of logic Facebook is using to justify their moves to make everything public, and it's flawed. These are different kinds of public. For example, with Facebook fan pages there used to be an option to hide which pages/gro

FYI, Google Maps on Android actually has this feature built in (I believe you have to activate it under the app's 'Labs' section). Works as you'd expect — you tap point A, tap point B, and it tells you the distance between them.
