A friend did something like this a while ago (thesis + code) called Redink: https://github.com/evlrbot/Red-Ink Maybe there are some ideas in there for you. I really wished it got completed.

80 proof alcohol is one of the better things you can spill on your computer. I spilled a glass of milk on my Titanium G4. Had to replace a bunch of components (back when you could pop out the keyboard) and it smelled bad.

I like the flat style of Apple scissor keyboards, but I won’t discount what could be done with a touch surface “keyboard”. Why worry about emulating the feel of a mechanical keyboard? I love swipe keyboards on phones; removing physical keys

Not quite. 54% of the 135M American workers have a retirement plan.[1] That's 73M out of the ~250M American adults. Maybe you can call that the middle class. But point taken. To be less pithy, these individual shareholders have little

Yeah, this does that last millimeter in Z. It can do pressure, at least by virtue of knowing the force needed to move the keycaps and how far they've been pressed. An SDK has to be part of this. I agree that Linux support will be good

Yes. https://vimeo.com/258421095 It's possible to turn a single keycap into a touch surface with the mechanics of a TrackPoint, and mapping to VR. Look for a product this year.

Maybe instead of hoping that the forces of capitalism alone could make us rich and enrich society, we should've gone into government where we could lay out and fund these large-scale initiatives. It's happening, though—just sl
