It's not any more complicated to develop for than an equivalent 3d-space game, but almost none of the tropes and techniques that work for a flat experience like playing Counter Strike translate. People are figuring out basics like how

Ah, thanks. I'm surprised I haven't heard of body modders getting that done so they can see UV, that sounds like a neat superpower akin to people who get magnets embedded in their fingers. Going to research risks now..

It's not really about being incapable of learning new UIs though - I'm perfectly capable, I just don't want to. Why learn a UI that takes 3X as many steps to chop up a site design when there's one that takes X? Sadly mos

Well, good point. I totally forgot about those. That said, is this page representative of what you're talking about or am I missing a better UI? http://mailman.nanog.org/pipermail/nanog/2017-February/thre

I can't speak to Matlab/Octave but as for Photoshop, FOSS folks always say use GIMP. But the interface is just so terrible compared to PS and I think they underestimate how important that is. Maybe it's configurable but for e

I'm very hopeful that YC's city-building efforts (if they come to fruition) will include something like this. And it's something I plan to do when I get land in the next decade (not the food/healthcare part but at least

Maybe I'm ignorant but my understanding was it's not really a social construct for us, it's often rooted in the understanding of genetics that makes inbreeding a bad idea.

Start developing now and by the time your app/game is fleshed out you'll be well positioned for when the cost comes down.

That was my thought as well. Especially if in some way this could run as a "personal" search engine. So I could fine tune it to avoid crawling and indexing certain sites - I really don't need to see anything from CNN, HuffPo,

Maybe not on par but close - I was expecting limitations like that, didn't realize it'd be in the petabytes! I wasn't saying or expecting that it could be done on the cheap. Just trying to think of ways to get away from the f

Are there non-profit search engines? Any domain experts who can speak to how hard/expensive it would be to run your own (a quick google shows me stuff like http://www.gigablast.com/ )?

Killing the escape key seems weird to me too, but do regular vi users actually rely on the real escape key? It's way too far from home row and sees too much usage for me to not remap something closer like Capslock.

Martial arts helps me. It builds discipline and gives me more energy that cascades into the rest of my life, and it's fun just on its own. The structure, community and obligation of it makes it more powerful than say, going bouldering

Ehn, we're pretty segregated too. You notice a big difference in racial distributions going to different malls and bus stations, especially outside of the downtown core (at least in the nation's capital where I live). Not to menti
