But, that's life, no? We can never make plans that work out all the time. I'd say, as a father of a 5 and 3yo myself, it's a great opportunity to demonstrate/teach the kiddos how to deal with those situations. The point

It's entirely dependent upon where, specifically, in the Cascades OP was. There are numerous wilderness-designated zones that don't have limits on number of people in an area and access is free, save for the requirement that you f

This comment makes assumptions and gives OP crap for said assumptions. As someone who also frequently backpacks in the same region, it's just not true. OP specified "wilderness zone" and there are numerous wilderness area

I move past, and don't click on, articles I don't care about all the time. That approach takes a lot less time/effort than it does to click on them and post something about it. Doing that also means that they leave my mind al

This is hobby-dependent and YMMV of course, but... ... go and do your hobby. Whatever it is. You're likely to meet people along the way who are also into whatever it is that you're doing. Even in the less sociable hobbies, you

After ditching social media, I've come to greatly value close connections with my friends and family. Meeting up and hanging out, or calling them regularly if they live far away, have proved far more fruitful than any value I thought I

This ignores nuance. There's "engaging content" (nods head) and "engaging content" (shakes head). I want the former, not the latter. Social media is optimized for the latter.

It's a "YMMV" situation, because... I don't want that. At all. It's algorithmic and there's nothing stopping artists and labels paying for placement in there. I don't want that. I am a musician, and a DJ,
