How did we let this happen? We used to have open protocols, apps like Pidgin that would bring multiple chat clients together under one interface, IRC, Skype P2P, etc. etc. Was it spammers that caused this mass migration to ever more closed

Real people are complex and hold a wide palette of skills, opinions, habits, biases, etc. Just enjoy the good and disregard the bad.

There was no decision made on this basis. It was dismissed entirely due to the elapsed statute of limitations.

Trying to make a stab at improving RSS feed discoverability. There's a website portion and an app portion. Hope to have something to show off in a few weeks.

It feels like we're one technological breakthrough away from all of these data centers going up to be deemed irrelevant.

Nintendo hardware IMO is mostly reasonably priced. Their first party game library is why many buy into the ecosystem and they charge a premium for it. The original Switch was under-powered but also the first of its kind. The Switch 2 was mo

No "AI generated" markings or any indication provided that the video used in the ad isn't real. It brings forth a question we will soon need to face: how to regulate AI use in political advertisements designed to influence vo

Any plans for RSS feed(s)? Would love to passively track the auctions in this manner. Per state, ending soon etc. would be fantastic.

Good writing for a broad audience requires it. Unfortunately the LLMs don't tend to adopt this guideline.

It's not. It's a glorified code editor with no moat. Those are (massive) bubble prices.

I've always passively wondered why this wasn't more of a thing. Something like pgAdmin is fine I guess, but it's always felt like "just barely good enough" rather than an immersive power tool to get things done, and

Someone did something interesting to them and shared it with the world. That you feel is a waste of time does not add to the conversation and more broadly acts as a chilling effect on others who might want to share their interests. When it

Microsoft is progressively making everything an instance of Chrome. They've seemingly altogether given up the notion of native platform rendering. The win32 api for native ui elements hasn't been touched in two decades. There have

The write-up on the link seems promising, at least. I'm sure ads will come to the free version, but they appear to be respecting Nova's legacy and longtime Prime purchasers. Anything is better than the slow decay it has been endur

It is 100% necessary, but without the backing of Congress to enforce the spending cuts and reductions in administrative bloat, the efforts will matter little in the grand scheme of things. Trump himself really didn't get behind the DOG

This is why eventually, the AI with the fewest guardrails will win. Grok is currently the most unguarded of the frontier models, but it could still use some work on unbiased responses.

Grok has been free for over a month now and for me it has certainly proven itself competent at most tasks that you would otherwise have to pay for with Claude, ChatGPT, etc.
