I'm sure many are cringing at how this well-intentioned message was delivered. But we're all willing to turn a blind eye in favor of scouring any positive tidbit from it.

This is like approaching a tribe and tearing apart its social fabric. Anthropologically speaking it's never the right approach. There are times when you just have to accept certain behavior. Let the system adjust from within.

Non-ssl rendering of local hrefs is lenient. Browsers don't complain. With forced ssl, however, badly constructed hrefs will force the browser to complain that a SSL enabled website has non-ssl hrefs. Most people don't understand

The cost to have someone fix absolute/non-absolute href links will far exceed the cost of SSL or an extra IP. So expect to see a broken landscape of websites post implementation.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that you're not "offline" unless you take the battery out of your phone and wait a good minute or so. And there's no wireless power source "force feeding" your phone... This

Problem is upstream will either charge for handling take-down requests, null route the IP, or ask that they take their business elsewhere. I can imagine this generating dozens of abuse requests a day. It doesn't matter if you auto-comp

CF can cause a small DoS as it does some aggressive pre-fetching. So your server needs to handle short bursts really well. Not to mention whitelist CF's IP space both in the firewall and nginx rate limiting.
