The "credit" one deserves in business success isn't about having created a successful business. It's for having fought and survived the psychological trauma that one goes through to create a successful business. Not ever

A CEO is supposed to do 1 thing -> generate more profit $ in the future. How he/she does it is up to them. It's not up to you or I to judge if they are doing the right things. Just check if they are accomplishing their goal.

Racing is a great manifestation of this. Drivers often claim bad luck for being hit by another car. But the best drivers just seem to rarely have bad luck. Knowing how to keep yourself out of situations where unlucky events may happen is ju

Yes. And yes "You can't judge because you were never a CEO" is a silly comment to make. Take my point as a shorthand for "this person has neither experienced what that job is or bothered learning what it is".

This person has clearly never been CEO. There's like a hundred thousand CEOs in the US. Adam Neuman doesn't make a trend.

If there's one sure fire way to fuel polarization, it's to hide dissenting view points. If there's one thing we need more of right now, it's the patience to listen and have a conversation. Turns out telling someone they

As much as I disagree with the article, this is just the engineer's version of it. I think you would find it really interesting to try running a company or even a team. I think it would help you see your prior managers in a different l

Many of these principles may work, but they are not the goal. The biggest confusion I see in new and experienced managers is the point of their job -> maximizing their teams productivity. It's not clear from the article that the aut

Well I can say in my experience firing people is such a pain nowadays that I feel a need to be a lot more careful in hiring. I've seen a bit more than half of fired employees come back with some form of discrimination lawsuit threat af

This is a wild thing to read. I'm not a political expert, but this seems philosophically landing in the world of marxism. Is that vaguely true? Some of this rhetoric has been tried and shown to be incorrect to unfathomable harm so many

Google employees unionizing is super hypocritical. If you disagree with the big evil monopoly, then leave and give up the crazy salary. Can't have it both ways. As long as all the smart people stay there, they'll keep being the bi

This is what the google / facebook monopolies have done to silicon valley culture. People want the least amount of work and accountability, but feel entitled to every promotion, bump, perk in the book. At the end of the day, to pay the

Dr King would have, and always did use love. Not hate. Collective action is not hate, and change doesn't require hate. Mobs today act out of anger and hate. And that creates more anger and more hate. It's hard to love people that

He's right. Mobs don't do good in the world, no matter if you agree with their position or not. "Hate can't fight hate, only love can do that" Somehow we all think we're better at this than MLK was. No matter y
