After using Akka and Scala I cringe at the thought of going back to use Java, even for simple dimple projects. As one commenter already put it, so much of Java frameworks are overly engineered. Which begs the question as to why do so many i

Look to joining another startup. Three years is too long. Look into evaluating your current predicament every 6 months. In a corp job, two years is the maximum I'd expect in any position, and you stayed three with a startup... Seriously loo

I rarely go off like this but man, look at this PHP file! It's a mess! Very long, not dry, no wonder the dev fat fingered it... Is the rest of the framework like this? No headless output testing? Manual output checking (at the least)? For t

Some Qs: Q1. I still don't get the use case for db storage on ephemeral storage. Q2. If EBS is the problem why are you migrating to S3 backed EBS boot vols? The problem with this is still the time in between snapshots even though it will be

(Btw, i recommend to pastebin your question in your native tongue and paste the link here) This Q is a can of worms. There is no perfect language, runtime, etc... Especially so if you want 'easy, quick to learn' and 'speed'. A good team end

Unless you work with the doctor, assistant, nurse or office manager for at least 6 months you will have no idea what actually needs to be done or how things could be streamlined. Sometimes it's not just data organization. Surveys won't help

He probably doesn't have enough to move. Perhaps a proper recommendation would be "apply for jobs in NYC. The word is they're quite desperate for competent developers".

I hope that if my startup doesn't take off that I'll be able get back in to a job. Though with 7yrs of actual corp. gig developing I might have a better chance. Here some cool things you could do (some of which i'll have to do myself): 1.)

RabbitMQ if deployed in the wrong manner, or stuck in the wrong place for the wrong reasons will bite you. I see that it looks like a transaction manager because Mongo can't handle tx very well? I beleive MySQL does, and so and Cassandra. S

I agree. Don't forget that work has begun for a Cassandra driver as well. Truth be told however, Django and a SQL based system aren't all that bad. No matter what, it will be a long time before Django gets full 1.0 support for NoSql in any

Is this Sprouter's 2nd pivot? I seemed to remember they had some sweeping changes back in early 2010 but can't find any evidence online or in my email (been a member for some time)...

I donated money AND sweat to half of these projects in addition to several others personally, before I went and started my startup. I hope people contribute outside of their 'corporate profits' both monetarily and with some elbow grease.

I'm sure the service will grow with more features. One thing is for sure, Rightscale can be a bit costly. I welcome anything in the AWS management space that saves money.

I hear what your saying, but I'm confused. The terms are at: http://www.startupchile.org/wp-content/downloads/terms_and_c... Particularly points 3.i, and 3.iii talk about incorporation in Chile as a requirement. 3.iii talks about the 'int
