This is super sad & bad for the space and for those of us that work in the industry and just want to build real stuff. $600m is a ton for anywhere, but especially for Vietnam! I hope there is an international manhunt ongoing.

Totally agree about making `internal` the default visibility for Solidity/EVM functions. Should also require visibility to be declared (right now just compiler warnings happen).

In most centralized entities, interests are conflicted. With mining, the value of the income is directly determined by the price of the cryptocurrency.

Yes, it is common to basically ask for funding until the last minute. The fact that Fortress already gave them some funding, at arguably the "last minute" is evidence of this. Fortress, you will note, was probably more of a vultur

What is the "blockchain protocol"? I think we really need to pick A blockchain and criticize it specifically. And with applications: some will be more expensive, some won't be. Ethereum developers are already exploring ways

Having a huge mining pool is super lucrative. Why would you want to mess with your underlying cryptocurrency and threaten your income if you're a mining pool?

It adds an extra hurdle to developing dapps as well. So many users in gitter channels I frequent run into problems with gas. But one thing is amazing is that once your dapp is deployed your backend is fully permanent and replicated 19,000 t

Wow, the blockchain terminal one is so freaky. It's just two monitors. And yeah, like the article says, the demo screen is blank. Why do you need a whitepaper for a terminal anyways?!

Can't wait to support Althea Mesh some more in the future! We don't live in a great place right now with much human-density at all. If we ever live in a city though I will be the first to put up a system that can run Althea Mesh.

Yes, blockchains _have_ been overhyped thus far. But there is some promise to having distributed control over a database. For instance, you can build a company with [token|share]holders that no one controls -- a true cooperative. (full di
