The simulation studies of Bouchard & Mezard show that, regardless of initial conditions, wealth distribution ends up a Pareto distribution with a small percentage taking almost all of the goods. The take-away of Bouchard & Mezard&#

"User interface woes" is my guess. I found USENET and associated newsgroups to be better than the WWW, especially for discussions of software. I once even promoted the use of internal newsgroups w/in a corporate environment,

You're right, my bad! I should have said "Aristotelian mechanics" instead of "Galilean mechanics". Galileo saw his physical intuitions but, being the scientist he was, corrected them.

They miss the most obvious aspect of being gorgeous for women - men will pursue them relentlessly for sex. Probably few young girls are adequately prepared for the onslaught. I've had women friends who fit into the gorgeous category.

Try buying a _used_ car! I've had a 1992 GM car for 18 years. It runs great, gets OK mileage and repairs are ridiculously cheap. Only downside: soon it will become a "classic car" and I'll have to pay more for insurance.

Wrong on two levels: Our physical intuitions are Galilean, not classical, mechanics (that is, they are non-Newtonian). For example, our intuitions tell us that an object set in motion eventually slows down and stops. That's Galilean (a

Yes, the civil and legal ramifications are important: - my inheritance: my spouse can get my SS income when I die, my wife inherits my goods by default, etc. Now gays get the same treatment. - taxes: are different for married and non-marri

I was brought up with Lincoln logs then Tinker Toys. When I saw Lego blocks I thought "Those are for dumb kids" and kept on tinkering. It's an easy step up to chemical models from Tinker Toys. The difference is generational:
