I don’t see how it reads as an unconditional commitment. It implies that the values of your country are “right” to your (parents) eyes.

Or maybe not everything is marketing and a cursory search shows you the project is an engineering project backed by multiple universities? No, it must be fake, because it doesn’t fit my own agenda, and I don’t have the time to actually read

Well, I can also find a dozen sheep within that radius, just the other way around! Dense country for sure, but I’m not living near the city center. Urban planning does not equal trying to get everyone to live in packed apartments.

Should everyone wait until their kids turn 18 to start teaching them their own morals and values? You’d just be auctioning their brain to random others who are willing to do that. I think we either have very different concepts of what ind

Technology and engineering are universal achievements, and a main part of how society as a whole progresses. A sociology focused world fair would just be the words most hated and divisive fair ever, exactly the opposite of what it should se

Sounds like an urban planning problem. I can find half a dozen car sharing vehicles in a 400m radius from my house.

My car fits this profile. Short trips to school and a few errands, most under 5km. Used car, 20k+. I can imagine this seems absurdly low for suburban America.

Did you look at the URL posted at all? The car is in final design stages, has enough cells to deliver 250km of range per week.

This was in response to laverya’s comment above. I agree that 3D printed guns are still a fantasy problem, that’s the point I was making.

“Free speech” that you can only have in your own bedroom is not really free, is it? It’s about public spaces. News media are not private forums, they receive a public license to operate, which is in the interest of society.

Yeah they would be much better off importing a few npm packages for that, and setting up some CI to build this with webpack and deploy to serverless /s Nothing wrong with the code per se - a little formatting and nicer variable names w

Right. I did a bit of research and 1. very little rare earth materials are actually used. 80%+ are in magnets / motors, a good chunk in screens and sensors 2. solar panels might have cadmium/silver which despite the name are not r

You cannot compare a random persons’ blog to a comment on mainstream media. The audience size is vastly different, and the overlap probably nil.

It’s been in use as in “toxic relationship” or “toxic behaviour” for maybe fifty years. If you’re thinking of “salty”... that goes even further back. And both were definitely popular in Counter-Strike a decade before any other game!

Source for that Europe claim? That’s what we call a stretch. A earth-to-moon kind of stretch. In most of Western Europe gun crime is basically non-existent outside of turf wars, drug rings and bank robberies. Your odds of being killed or ro

Every illegal gun is either stolen from a legal owner, the police, the military, or imported (where it comes from those same sources). By increasing the supply their availability for criminals also goes up proportionally.

How can you tell Starlink from the other 6000 satellites in space right now? That’s an amazing skill. If you saw a tight line of satellites, those have just been launched and are not in their final (higher) orbit.
